Mason Rudoph’s show he is a serviceable backup, not a starter during his first four years with the Steelers before a brief stint with the Titans last year. In his rookie season in 2019 with the Steelers, he had only four more touchdowns than interceptions and was sacked the most (15) throughout his entire five season NFL career. Last year with the Titans he played in just 8 games and had 9 Interceptions.
Will Howard is a rookie quarterback out of Ohio State and his college stats were good, we all know the competition is a lot harder in the NFL. Rookie QBs in previous NFL seasons have not looked the greatest like Zach Wilson, Bryce Young, etc as rookie starters. The Commanders got the better side out of Jayden Daniels and had a rookie of the year like season but that is only one qb out of so many others in the NFL. I personally wouldn’t want to risk putting out a rookie to start when you have QBs behind you with pro experience.
Skylar Thompson is also on the Steelers active roster but did not put up great numbers serving as a backup with the Miami Dolphins. In his rookie season in 2022, he had more interceptions than touchdowns with three and he never had a completion percentage more than 63%.
This left concerns for Steelers faithful and got the thought of why not signing Aaron Rodgers. As a diehard Jets fan, I know signing an aging QB is a crapshoot, but it was the only viable option for them. Aaron Rodgers, who will be entering his 21st season in the NFL, is set to be the starting QB on his third team. Rodgers is for sure a hall of famer with the numbers he had with the Green Bay Packers but struggled to lead a Jets team out of their playoff drought. He tore his achilles in his first season in New York, four plays into the first game of the 2023 season against the Buffalo Bills which ultimately lead to him being out for the remainder of that season. In 2024, he started at QB1 for the entire season leading the Jets to a 5-12 record. You could say the numbers in 2024 were good for Rodgers but you have to remember, the Jets were trailing in a multitude of games and it was basically garbage time where his stats were padded. His lack of mobility, resulting in him being sacked 40 times behind a much better 2024 Jets offensive line.

Now here is where it gets interesting, in week #1 Rodgers will be taking on his former team, the New York Jets, and Justin Fields will be doing the same. Big time drama and backstory for both teams’s first game of the season. I think the Jets will win. They have home field advantage, Fields has a lot more mobility and could exploit the Steelers defence by throwing outside the pocket or with his ability to run. The chemistry he had with the 2021 Ohio State Buckeyes Garrett Wilson, Jeremy Ruckert, and Josh Myers resulted in a National Championship and I hope they can pick up where they left off for the Jets and hopefully lead them to their first playoff berth since 2010.
The Jets still have some unknowns. Can Aaron Glenn motivate and coach this team to have them play winning football? In his initial interview, Glenn stated his love for the Jets and said ‘We’re the freaking New York Jets’. Being a lifelong Jets fan, it pumped me up knowing our coach loves the Jets as much as their fanbase! It’s been a long drought for the Jets. Will this finally be the season where the Jets turn it around? I sure hope so! J-E-T-S Jets Jets Jets!

I have also attended in the past and in upcoming years the Sports Broadcasting Camp at Montclair State University where I was able to gain valuable experience with all things sports broadcasting including learning how to do highlight reels, host radio/pregame shows, read teleprompters, how to prepare a few days ahead to call games, 1 on 1 interviews, etc. We also took two big trips in my time here one to the Somerset Patriots where I was able to call the game into my phone and to the Harlem Globetrotters as the camp got media passes to go in early and interview two players. After all of this, I got a wonderful opportunity through James McDaniel to do PA announcing my first real “job” outside of all of the other stuff I do announcing my towns youth football teams at Foley Field in the press box. I have done almost all grade levels but mostly 7th and 8th graders. On top of that, my town was able to host the NJSYFL All Star Game for the 8th Graders and James McDaniel once more invited me back to do the game to cap off my first season doing this.
