Tom Thibodeau spent a good amount of time (5 seasons) with the New York Knicks as their head coach from 2020-2025. Throughout that period, he led his Knicks team to four playoff spots. In 2021, they made it to the first round and in 2023 and 2024, leading them to the Eastern Conference Semifinals back-to-back seasons. Then this season to the Eastern Conference Finals. He totalled 40+ wins in each of those seasons and most recently in 2024 breaking the 50 win mark and doing it again in 2025. He was super successful but it looked to be that the Knicks kept repeating and repeating where they place in every season. I think it needed to be done at some point since this kept happening but I didn’t expect for it to happen so soon after making it this far for the first time in a while.
The goal for every NBA team is to bring home a championship and that is exactly what the New York Knicks organization is set on. In a press release announcing Thibodeau’s departure the Knicks Leon Rose said “Our organization is singularly focused on winning a championship for our fans.” This was exactly the thought process behind it all. He wasn’t able to capitalize with all the talent he had on his roster this season with Jalen Brunson, Karl-Anthony Towns, Josh Hart, Mikal Bridges, and OJ Anunoby their most notable names. The Knicks for multiple weeks were without a head coach until Mike Brown was hired on July 1st.

Hi my name is Tyler Sceurman I’m 14 and live in Bloomfield, NJ. When I grow up, I want to become a professional sportscaster. I have my own sports podcasts on Spotify called Talking with Tyler. I’m trying to make as much connections as I possibly can right now so that when I’m ready to start applying I’ll already have a good idea of where I want to start heading. I have also attended in the past and in upcoming years the Sports Broadcasting Camp at Montclair State University where I was able to gain valuable experience with all things sports broadcasting including learning how to do highlight reels, host radio/pregame shows, read teleprompters, how to prepare a few days ahead to call games, 1 on 1 interviews, etc. We also took two big trips in my time here one to the Somerset Patriots where I was able to call the game into my phone and to the Harlem Globetrotters as the camp got media passes to go in early and interview two players. After all of this, I got a wonderful opportunity through James McDaniel to do PA announcing my first real “job” outside of all of the other stuff I do announcing my towns youth football teams at Foley Field in the press box. I have done almost all grade levels but mostly 7th and 8th graders. On top of that, my town was able to host the NJSYFL All Star Game for the 8th Graders and James McDaniel once more invited me back to do the game to cap off my first season doing this.
