This year summerslam took place at MetLife stadium in New Jersey and for the first time in history was a 2 night event. With an 113,722 fans packing the venue this made it the Biggest Summerslam in WWE History.

Here are the Match Results and thoughts on what took place both nights.

CM punk vs Gunther WWE World heavyweight Championship match-In what was a grueling battle between the two stars Gunther had most of the advantage due to his size difference so it was hard for punk but he did go toe to toe with one of the most impressive grapplers and eventually punk would rally and Hit the GTS Twice to get the victory over Gunther. What seemed like a long time coming and celebration for Punk would soon be silenced by Seth Rollins who revealed he had a plan from the start and stole Cm Punks moment and title he earned by waltzing down to the ring, cashing in his money in the bank and then Stomping cm punks head into the mat to become The New WWE World heavyweight champion. This by far was the most surprising moment on night 1 of summerslam as now Seth Rollins and company have complete control and set out what they wanted to achieve.

John Cena VS Cody Rhodes WWE Undisputed championship street fight– this match was the most anticipated and exciting as John Cena turned back to face and We saw that Cody got what he was looking for and that was Big match John as both men gave everything and their all. From John Cena being suplexed on a steel guardrail to Cody Rhodes blasting Cena with the steel corner of the ring. The most shocking moment was when Cody kicked out of John Cenas Avalanche AA from the top turnbuckle. The crowd responded well to Cena and Cody throughout the match and Cody would eventually get the so needed victory he deserved. After the match Cena would signal to the WWE universe that his time is almost up as he had four months left. The chants of thank you Cena echoed throughout MetLife and then the Beast Brock lesnar would return to WWE and F5 John Cena closing out night 2.

Solo Sikoa VS Jacob Fatu United States championship steel cage match-This match was Okay for the way it played out continuing the feud between the two. Jacob fatu really didn’t get much of an opportunity to show his in ring skill and athleticism against solo. This match was very slow paced and really didn’t have much thrill for a steel cage match but otherwise the action was good.

WWE Woman’s world heavyweight championship Naomi vs Rhea Ripley vs Iyo Sky in a triple threat match-This match was the best woman’s match I have seen in awhile. All three competitors went to great lengths. At one point in the match it looked as if Rhea was going to become champion but Iyo was there at every opportunity to break up the pin. This obsessiveness of who has each other’s number would cost Rhea and Iyo as Naomi would get a roll up pin for the victory.

AJ Styles VS Dominic Mysterio Intercontinental Championship match-This match was fun to watch. To see AJ Styles and Dom go through a physical match up was crazy. A grueling match from start to finish. AJ had multiple attempts to to finish off Dom for the 1-2-3 but would fail. So far WWE is doing a fantastic job with this storyline and it will be awesome to see what they do next. Putting over Dom is a smart move as intercontinental champion.

Randy Orton and Jelly Roll VS Logan Paul and Drew McIntyre-as soon as the bell rang for this match up Jelly Roll would go up against Logan Paul to start things off in the tag match. To rmost fans surprise jelly Roll was hitting hard shots on Logan and Drew. Eventually Drew would take out Orton isolating Jelly Roll to even get a tag. About half way into the match Jelly Roll would take a Glasgow kiss head butt from Drew and would get our though an announce table at ringside by a fired up Logan Paul who delivered a Frog splash sacrificing his body. Then Jelly roll did something that took absolute guts as he was being pulled away to the back by WWE officials. Jelly would get back in the match up deciding not to leave Orton high and dry on his own but the damage was done and Logan Paul would hit his finisher for the victory.

Karrion Cross VS Sami Zayn-In this match it was all about mind games. In the early going it looked like Sami would fall victim to Cross physically and mentally. Sami was handed a metal pipe by Scarlett wanting him to hit cross with it but Sami chose to hit cross with a kick for the win.cross had been a thorn in Sami Zayns side for months and now that cross is in the rear view mirror zayn can focus on becoming a world champion but the downside to this is Cross may never be relevant in WWE again and it will be hard for him to succeed after this loss.

Roman Reigns and Jey USO vs Bronson Reed and Bron Breaker-This match probably should not have been the start to night 1 of summerslam but it was interesting to see how The two teams fed off of each other move after move. Bronson Reed and Bron breaker put on a show against Roman and Jey keeping them grounded for most of the match but as Breaker would go for a spear on Jey Roman would push Jey out of the way sacrificing himself for his cousin which Roman never would have done at the height of the original bloodline and Jey would deliver a super kick and a USO Splash for the win. This match we saw how destructive Reed and Breaker can be and they are definitely the past, present, and future of the industry.

WWE TLC Match-This match featured The motor city machine guns, DIY, The Street profits, Fraxiom, Andrade and Rey Phoenix, and The Wyatt Sicks. This match was all over the place with teams hitting each other with ladders, chairs, and even putting each other through chairs as well as high impact intense moves off the ladders. In the previous article it was mentioned that The Motor City machine guns should win and claim their second title reign but that’s not what happened at all. DIY was the team that had many chances to climb the ladder and grab the tag titles but they would end up being stopped by Wyatt sicks members Joe Gacey and Dexter lumis who had help from Eric rowen and uncle howdy who were not even participants. DIY would fall off the ladders and The Wyatt’s would retain the tag titles. There was so much fast paced action which made the match fun and enjoyable.

Tiffany Stratton VS Jade Cargill WWE Woman’s undisputed championship-going into this match The fan favorite to win was jade Cargill who had been lacking opportunity to really shine on the WWE roster. Tiffany and Cargill went back and forth in this match and it was slow at first but then the match really picked up over Tiffany started getting into a rhythm. Cargill would hit jaded on Stratton who would get her foot under the bottom rope breaking the pin. The match should have been over there but Stratton was aware of her surroundings and her opponent which allowed her to retain her championship. Jade should have won this match and i think WWE is letting this amazing talent slip through their grasp when the reason they brought her to WWE was to be a top performer. Not looking like that as of late.

Becky Lynch VS Lyra Valkyria WWE Woman’s intercontinental championship-This match was by far the most uninteresting boring and bland one that was watched by WWE fans. The storyline between Becky and Lyra is okay but it could have been more suspenseful and most people lost interest in this match because of that reason. However with bayley in the mix of things it could spice things up more.

Best match: John Cena VS Cody Rhodes WWE Undisputed Championship street fight

Best moment:Seth Rollins cashing in his WWE Money in the bank contract on CM Punk and stomping him into the mat for the 1-2-3.

Shock of the show: Brock lesnars WWE Return

Worst moment: Karrion Cross losing to Sami Zayn along with his push opportunity

Star of the Show:John Cena for his incredible performance against Cody Rhodes

Overall WWE SummerSlam 2025 was a huge success and was amazing from start to finish. If you have not watched the two night event yet please take the time to do so.
