I was planning an article for the NBA finals and to sum up the season on a whole, Denver winning their first title, Miami’s Cinderella story, blah, blah, blah, but the news of Porzingis to the Celtics really got me fuming. Don’t get me wrong, Kristaps is a decent player, but decent is not good enough for a team the calibre of the Boston Celtics.

The unicorn has his positives, but he is not what Boston needed, immediately anyway. Yes Al Horford is aging and may retire and Robert Williams is physically unable to play two games in a row consistently, but the obvious acquisition should have been a Point Guard. The ridiculousness of this trade is that Boston could have waited a couple more hours and gotten him as a free agent. A center could have waited until deeper into the offseason.

The part of this deal that has me fuming is the trade of Marcus Smart. I mean come on, he may not put up 30-10-5, but he was essential to the success in the last two seasons. The best defensive guard in the entirety of the NBA being traded to Memphis is probably the most “head in the sand move” ever. I genuinely worry about anyone who can say “this is a good deal for Boston.” Yeah sure Ja Morant is suspended for a month or two but what happens when he’s back? They are going to be a force to reckon with.

Look, Memphis have one of the better rosters in the Western Conference and they have only gotten better. This deal is like when Arsenal sold Cesc Fabregas to Chelsea and then witnessed him become a champion before challenging properly for a title, a travesty.

In my opinion, Memphis are definitely one of the favourites to rep the West in the NBA finals next season as Phoenix have no bench, Denver hasn’t made any moves yet (even though they don’t need to) Chris Paul just went to Golden State but it’s basically one man down because of injuries.

Can I say as well the absolutely imbecilic job that Brad Stevens is doing as a GM? My theory; jealousy. Jealousy of Ime Udoka. Jealousy that Ime did in 10 months what Brad couldn’t do in six years, and lets be honest, fired him for having sex. The Celtics clearly needed a guard as first priority after witnessing a possibly historic comeback from 3-0 down get wiped out due to Jaylen Brown taking threes like it was a Black Friday sale and turning the ball over like a snowball down Mt. Everest.

But no, lets trade the ONLY competent ball handler in the team. Now that Beal is gone, Lillard is seemingly going to the 76ers, who will the Celtics get?

Well, I am 18 years old currently undergoing my Bachelors of Science in Media and communications. I'm currently in my first semester and I would like to be a sports analyst in the future. I am also from Jamaica. I would like to work at one of the biggest sports companies in the world (ESPN/SKY/BT) but everyone needs a start and I would love it if you were to give me that start.
