Yesterday at the Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics, the U.S. Women’s Hockey Team didn’t just beat Canada — they set a historical precedent by handing Canada its first ever Olympic shutout loss in women’s hockey, winning 5-0 with authority. The Americans dominated from puck drop, skated circles around their rivals, and slapped home goals like they were trying to pay rent on a dream — and they did it in style.
Highlight reel moments:
- Hannah Bilka — two goals and a breakout performance
- Caroline Harvey — goal + two assists
- Abbey Murphy — three assists and a one-woman mischief machine
- Aerin Frankel (Goalie) — 20 saves, no goals against — shutout city!
This wasn’t just a win — it was the hockey equivalent of leaving your shoes at the door because Canada wasn’t invited to the party.
For decades, Canada and the USA have been locked in the fiercest rivalry in women’s hockey — like peanut butter vs. jelly, but with way more elbows and way fewer calories. 
Here’s the deal:
- USA vs. Canada in Olympic women’s hockey: 10 matchups total.
- USA has won 3 of those. Canada has won 7.
- But Canada has historically dominated Olympic gold, with 5 titles to the USA’s 2.
- Since the sport debuted in 1998, the two teams have met in the gold medal game an astonishing 6 out of 7 times.
Before yesterday, if Canada was a dessert, they were poutine — rich, heavy, impossible for anyone to beat. But last night? Team USA served them up cold with a side of embarrassment.
Canada’s women’s hockey used to be like the North Pole — cold, untouchable, and everyone respected it:
Legendary players like Marie-Philip Poulin and others made Canada the gold standard.
Tight systems, disciplined defense, and puck control were their bread and butter.
They’ve been so good that other teams formed support groups just to deal with the emotional pain.
But here’s the plot twist: the era of pure Canadian dominance is showing cracks. 
Last night’s 5-0 score wasn’t just a win — it was a massive swing in momentum in the rivalry.

- Some online fans say Canada’s losses lately — including the Olympic shutout — reflect outdated systems and roster choices that didn’t keep up with USA’s evolution.
- Others point out that Canada’s best players being injured (including their captain) was a big factor.
- Regardless, last night’s victory has fans hyped — and Canada folk rethinking their hockey life choices.
Fans, buckle your helmets. What we saw yesterday wasn’t just a hockey game — it was an announcement:
“USA Women’s Hockey is here and they’re not just challengers — they might be the baddest team on planet ice.”
Is this the Olympics where the United States finally proves they’re the baddest in women’s hockey? After that 5-0 destruction? Hell. Freakin’. Yes.

Since the network began, we have had some of the best content in digital sports media. We have six quality shows on our network covering all sports and sports betting.
