The beginning of the 2026 season has been everything that manager Shawn Chacon has hoped for from his team through the first 5 games.

6/2/26 The first game of the season was a pretty smooth one for the Thunder. They defeated the Aberdeen Ironbirds 6-1 as the final score. The star pitcher for the Thunder was their starter Holden Hering going a solid 3 innings of 1 run ball with 5 strikeouts. David Hinojosa followed Hering with 3 shutout innings of his own, striking out 2 batters. Andrew Berg, the Army lieutenant, then came in and struck out 4 batters, leading to Nate Bennett pitching the 9th and shutting the door. On the offensive side, Grant Gray led the way with 2 RBI’s and a hit as well. Carsten Sabathia III also had 2 hits for the Thunder.

6/3/26 The second game of the season for the Thunder was more of a nailbiter. They defeated the Ironbirds by a final score of 4-3. Noah Sundquist, the starting pitcher, went 3 innings with only 1 hit and 1 run allowed while striking out 5 batters. Elijah Foster was the star out of the Thunder bullpen, coming in and pitching 3 innings of 1 run ball with 4 strikeouts to top it off. On the offensive side, Joek Rivera Colon led the way with 2 hits and an RBI. Chase Swain also had a 2 run RBI single as well.

6/4/26 The third game of the season, also the final game of the series against the Ironbirds for the Thunder, was a series sweep as they defeated the Ironbirds 5-3. Christian Coppola was the starting pitcher for Trenton, going 3 innings of 0 run ball while recording 3 strikeouts. Jack Picozzi followed Coppola, going 3.2 innings and striking out 4 batters. Andrew Berg capped off the pitching side, finishing off the final 3 innings of the game allowing only 1 run while striking out 3 batters. Aidan Paradine, the catcher, recorded 2 hits and an RBI double. Carsten Sabathia also provided runs on the scoreboard hitting a 2 run double, putting the Thunder up 3-0, leading to the 5-3 victory.
