8/28/26 Trenton returns home for their final 3 home games of the 2026 season. They had their game on 8/27 get cancelled because of rain. The first game of the series against the West Virginia Black Bears was a dominant first game win of the series for the Thunder. Led by starting pitcher Billy Morris, Trenton won by a final score of 5-0. Morris went 7 innings, gave up only 5 hits, allowed no runs, and only walked 1. He also struck out 6 batters during his 7 innings of work. He finished the 2026 season with an ERA of 2.73. On the offensive side, Bryson Trammell and AJ Swader led the way with home runs each. Relief pitcher John Hacker came in to close out the game for the Thunder after Morris exited after the 7th inning. Hacker struck out 2 batters in 2 innings without giving up any hits. This game was a pretty perfect one for the Thunder.
8/29/26 The Thunder played their final home game of the season against West Virginia. This one started a little shaky for Trenton as starting pitcher Jackson Thomas gave up 2 first inning runs while walking 2 batters and gave up 2 hits as well. After the first inning, Thomas settled in nicely, not allowing anymore runs until the 6th inning where he left the game after allowing the bases to be loaded. Reliever Connor Godwin came in and limited the damage by only allowing 1 run which was added onto Thomas’ final stat line. The bullpen did an amazing job holding the Black Bears to 0 earned runs allowed while striking out 2 batters. Justin Williams and Joe Colucci closed the game out for Trenton in the 8th and 9th innings. Luckily for Thomas, Trenton exploded offensively scoring 3 in the first inning and then 3 in the 4th. Brayden Fraasman had a Home Run of his own while Bryson Trammell, AJ Swader and Daniel Murillo also recorded 2 hits each as well. Trenton won this game by a final score of 8-6 and swept the Black Bears in their final home series of the 2026 season. They now go on the road to play the Aberdeen IronBirds for their final 3 games of the season before being done. Manager Shawn Chacon and hitting coach Josh Johnson each thanked the Thunder fans in their postgame media conference by saying, “It was a joy to come here and experience this atmosphere in Trenton for these fans every night and give them something to be happy about because they deserve it.”
