In what might go down as one of the most awkward almost-trades in recent NFL history, the Maxx Crosby–to–the Baltimore Ravens deal reportedly died faster than a New Year’s resolution at a Buffalo Wild Wings happy hour.
Reports say the Ravens backed out because of medical concerns.
Medical concerns?
About Maxx Crosby?
This is the same guy who plays football like someone stole his truck, burned his house down, and insulted his mother all before kickoff.
But here we are.
And now the Las Vegas Raiders might be the ones left standing at the altar while Crosby stares at his phone like a guy who just got ghosted after buying concert tickets.
Raiders: “Wait… You Said You Were Coming Over”
Let’s paint the scene.
The Raiders thought they had a deal with Baltimore. Bags packed. Draft picks coming. Everyone smiling.
Then suddenly the Ravens hit them with the football version of:
“Hey man… we just don’t think we’re ready for this right now.”
Translation:
They saw something on the medical report and panicked like someone Googling their symptoms at 3 AM.
Now the Raiders are stuck in a brutal position because many of the teams Crosby actually wanted may have already spent their money or draft capital in free agency.
That’s like putting your house on the market… agreeing to sell it… and then the buyer backs out after you already told everyone you were moving.
Awkward.
Were the Ravens Actually Looking at Someone Else?
Here’s the interesting twist.
There’s a very real chance the Ravens were simply pivoting toward Trey Hendrickson of the Cincinnati Bengals.
Hendrickson might actually fit the Ravens’ defensive scheme perfectly.
And the biggest difference?
You don’t have to ship a truckload of draft picks to get him.
For a team like Baltimore that treats draft picks like family heirlooms, that matters.
The Ravens love their picks so much they probably keep them in a glass display case next to the Lombardi trophies.
So if they can sign Hendrickson without giving up assets?
That’s a very Ravens thing to do.

Who Could Still Make a Move for Crosby?
Now the big question becomes:
Who’s still in the market?
The Dallas Cowboys
The Dallas Cowboys love big names almost as much as they love dramatic playoff exits.
And Crosby would instantly become the most terrifying thing on their defense since Micah Parsons discovered quarterbacks exist.
Jerry Jones might wake up tomorrow, drink his coffee, and randomly say:
“You know what we need? Chaos.”
And boom.
Phone call to Vegas.
Darren Mougey and the Jets
Then there’s the New York Jets, where GM Darren Mougey might want to make a massive splash.
Imagine Crosby lining up next to Will McDonald on that defensive front.
Quarterbacks in the AFC East would start updating their wills.
The Jets have the picks.
They have the cap flexibility.
And let’s be honest…
The Jets also have a long tradition of doing something wildly dramatic.
You have to feel for Crosby in all of this.
The guy just wants to go somewhere that’s competing for a championship.
Instead he’s stuck watching trade rumors collapse like a folding table at a Bills tailgate.
Somewhere right now Crosby is probably thinking:
“I went from Baltimore to… back to Vegas? Again??”
That’s like getting upgraded to first class and then the airline says:
“Actually… we’re putting you back in seat 37B next to the bathroom.”
Raiders Fans Have Seen This Movie Before
For Raiders fans, this situation feels painfully familiar.
It’s another chapter in the long-running series called:
“How Did This Go Wrong Again?”
Whether it’s coaching chaos, front-office drama, or trades that fall apart at the last second, the Raiders somehow keep finding new ways to make their fans stare into the void.
And if the Crosby trade truly falls apart?
Vegas may end up keeping a superstar who already wanted out.
Which is the football equivalent of staying in a relationship where both people already changed their Facebook status to “It’s Complicated.”
Look, I’m just saying this:
If the Ravens backed out of a Maxx Crosby trade because of medical concerns, then half the NFL should probably be medically retired by Tuesday.
This guy plays football like he’s auditioning for Gladiator 2.
But now the NFL rumor mill spins again.
Will it be Dallas?
Will it be the Jets?
Or will the Raiders somehow turn this into another episode of NFL chaos theater?
One thing’s for sure…
Somewhere in America, Jerry Jones is staring at a phone right now like a villain in a movie.
And that should scare the entire league.

- The Baltimore Ravens backing out of the Maxx Crosby trade for “medical concerns” is hilarious — this dude plays like a chainsaw with shoulder pads.
- The Las Vegas Raiders can’t even complete a trade anymore. At this point their front office negotiations probably happen over a broken iPhone on 3% battery.
- Somewhere Trey Hendrickson is watching this whole thing thinking, “Wait… I might accidentally become the Ravens’ plan A.”
- If the Dallas Cowboys get Crosby, Micah Parsons might lead the league in sacks just from quarterbacks running away from Crosby into his arms.
- The Raiders trade negotiations collapse so often they should start putting them on Netflix under the documentary section.
- I guarantee Jerry Jones heard the trade collapsed and immediately said:
“Get me Crosby and another yacht.” - If the New York Jets trade for Crosby, their defense might allow three points a game while the offense somehow still scores six.
- Raiders fans hearing the trade fell apart probably didn’t even react. They just sighed and said:
“Yeah… that sounds about right.” - If Crosby stays in Vegas, he’s going to sack quarterbacks out of pure frustration alone.
- The Ravens canceling a Crosby trade might be the most Ravens thing ever — they probably saved the draft picks so they can draft three future Pro Bowlers and one guy who becomes a Hall of Famer by accident. 😆
