The New York Jets potentially landing Brendan Sorsby in the supplemental draft because of a betting scandal honestly feels like destiny.
Not GOOD destiny.
Not Disney destiny.
More like “Florida man wrestles alligator behind gas station” destiny.
Only the Jets could spend over 50 years searching for a franchise quarterback and possibly find one hiding inside NCAA gambling drama like it’s a scratched-off lottery ticket at a deli in Queens.
And somehow…
It actually might work.
THE JETS QB ROOM IS BASICALLY A FOOTBALL GROUP CHAT
Right now the Jets have Geno Smith back in the picture and rumors continue floating around that Russell Wilson could still decide to sign if the situation makes sense.
Which honestly sounds less like a quarterback plan and more like fantasy football after somebody forgot the draft was today.
Jets fans are sitting there like:
“Wait… Geno’s back?”
“Russ might come?”
“And now a supplemental draft quarterback from a betting scandal?”
This organization runs like somebody spilled Monster Energy on the NFL script.
WHY SORSBY ISN’T JUST SOME RANDOM GAMBLING HEADLINE
Here’s the thing people don’t understand.
If Sorsby goes back to college next year and balls out cleanly, scouts already believe he could’ve pushed himself into first-round territory.
The kid has real NFL tools:
- Big arm
- Mobility
- Toughness
- Confidence
- Playmaking instincts
Basically the kind of quarterback NFL coaches fall in love with faster than Jets fans convincing themselves every August:
“THIS YEAR FEELS DIFFERENT!”
Then by Halloween they’re stress-eating mozzarella sticks watching third-and-17 screen passes.
But Sorsby? He’s got the raw talent.
He’s one of those quarterbacks where the play completely falls apart and somehow he still throws a laser 35 yards downfield while three defenders are hanging off him like Black Friday shoppers at Walmart.
NFL teams LOVE that.
Half the league sees a quarterback like that and immediately starts whispering:
“I can fix him.”
WHY THE SUPPLEMENTAL DRAFT MAKES SENSE FOR THE JETS
The supplemental draft is basically football’s version of finding hidden treasure in your junk drawer.
Most teams avoid it because they hate giving up future picks.
The Jets?
Buddy… this franchise has been giving away hope, happiness, and emotional stability for decades. One more draft pick isn’t stopping them.
And honestly the Jets are one of the few organizations desperate enough to take this kind of swing.
Because let’s be real:
- Geno Smith is a great story, but nobody’s pretending he’s 25 years old
- Russell Wilson, if he signs, comes with more baggage than JFK airport
- The Jets STILL need a long-term answer
- And fans are tired of quarterbacks arriving with “potential” and leaving with documentary specials
So if the Jets front office believes Sorsby has franchise quarterback upside?
Why wouldn’t they roll the dice?
This is a team that once thought a darkness retreat was proper offseason quarterback preparation.
A supplemental draft gamble honestly feels normal now.
THIS WOULD BE THE MOST JETS STORY EVER WRITTEN
Imagine this headline:
“Jets finally solve quarterback problem through NCAA betting scandal loophole.”
You can’t make this stuff up.
The Jets have had:
- The butt fumble
- The Tebow circus
- Favre drama
- Zach Wilson chaos
- Rodgers lasting shorter than a microwave Hot Pocket
And now potentially:
“Franchise savior enters through supplemental draft controversy.”
At this point being a Jets fan should qualify as a medical condition.
But here’s the scary part for the rest of the NFL…
What if this actually works?
What if after decades of suffering, bad quarterbacks, broken dreams, and enough football trauma to power three HBO documentaries… the Jets accidentally stumble into their franchise quarterback through absolute chaos?
Because football makes no sense sometimes.
And honestly…
Nothing feels more Jets than finally finding their savior in the weirdest way humanly possible.
