At this point, I’m convinced the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame has turned into that party where someone says, “You’re invited… and you’re invited… actually everybody come in.”
Because when I see names like Doc Rivers and Amar’e Stoudemire getting serious Hall of Fame talk… I start checking if I accidentally walked into the Participation Trophy Museum.
Don’t get me wrong — I respect both guys.
But Hall of Fame? That’s supposed to be greatness, not “pretty good for a few years and we remember the vibes.”
Let’s break this down Errol Marks style — funny, real, and slightly disrespectful (with love).
DOC RIVERS — Hall of Fame… For What Exactly?
Let’s start with Doc. The man is treated like coaching royalty. You’d think he was the basketball version of Phil Jackson.
Except… Phil has 11 rings.
Doc has ONE… and it came with a superteam so stacked it looked like an All-Star Game.
We’re talking:
- Kevin Garnett
- Paul Pierce
- Ray Allen
- Rajon Rondo
That wasn’t coaching. That was rolling the ball out and saying “Alright guys don’t fight.”

Meanwhile real Hall of Fame coaches:
ACTUAL LEGENDS
- Pat Riley — Changed eras, built dynasties
- Gregg Popovich — Built a 20-year machine
- Red Auerbach — Invented winning
- Steve Kerr — Built a modern dynasty
Doc Rivers’ legacy?
- Blown 3-1 leads
- Blown 3-2 leads
- Blown expectations
- Blown fanbases
Doc Rivers has coached more collapses than a folding chair company.
If blowing leads was a category…
Doc Rivers would be first ballot. Unanimous.
And as a player?
Come on. Stop it.
He averaged 10 points and 5 assists.
That’s not Hall of Fame… that’s solid backup guard at LA Fitness.
AMAR’E STOUDEMIRE — Knicks Savior… Hall of Fame? Not So Fast
Now this one hurts. Because I LOVE Amar’e. Knicks fans LOVE Amar’e.
When Amar’e Stoudemire came to New York…
He made the Knicks relevant again.
He made stars want to come back.
He gave us hope.
He also gave us knees made of expired rubber bands.
But Hall of Fame? Let’s compare.

Hall of Fame Power Forwards
- Tim Duncan
- Kevin Garnett
- Dirk Nowitzki
- Karl Malone
- Charles Barkley
These guys:
- MVPs
- Rings (most of them)
- Longevity
- Dominance
- Era-defining greatness
Amar’e’s resume:
- Great peak
- Unreal pick-and-roll with Steve Nash
- Explosive scoring
- Short prime
- Injuries
- No MVP
- No ring
- No sustained dominance
Amar’e was unstoppable for a stretch.
But Hall of Fame is about unstoppable careers.
Amar’e burned bright… but it wasn’t long enough.
He’s Hall of Very Good
Hall of Knicks Savior
Hall of “Man he was different”
But not Hall of Fame.
Here’s the truth nobody wants to say:
The NBA Hall of Fame has become:
- Popularity contest
- Nostalgia museum
- “We liked him” club
Greatness used to mean:
- Dominance
- Championships
- Longevity
- Changing the game
Now it means:
“Yeah… he had a good run… put him in.”
At this rate:
- Your favorite sixth man is getting in
- That guy who averaged 18 once is getting in
- Your neighbor who played JV might get a plaque
I’m waiting for:
“Congratulations… your 2K MyCareer player has been inducted.”
Doc Rivers:
- Overrated coach
- One title with stacked team
- Career full of collapses
- NOT Hall of Fame
Amar’e Stoudemire:
- Knicks legend
- Electric scorer
- Short prime
- Hall of Very Good… not Fame
The Hall of Fame is supposed to be exclusive.
Not everyone gets a jacket night.
Because if everybody is great…
Then nobody is great.
And right now…
The Hall of Fame is starting to look like Oprah:
“You get inducted!”
“You get inducted!”
“EVERYBODY GETS INDUCTED!”

My name is Errol Marks and I’d like to tell you why I believe I can be a major asset to your station. I’m from a small town in Long Island, NY and from a very young age I’ve always had a love for sports talk radio. Growing up, I would listen religiously to shows like Mike and the Mad Dog, Mike and Mike, and Imus in the Morning and studied what made those shows so great. I’ve made it my goal to be as influential as the hosts I grew up listening to, and with my knowledge of all major sports, enthusiastic and fearless personality, and my preparation skills, I know I can get to that level. This is an art and a medium that I’m passionate about and one that I feel can never be replaced.
What makes my story so unique goes beyond my 10+ years of experience in sports media. In addition to over ten years of creating and hosting sports talk radio shows, I created the World Wide Sports Radio Network - one of the first ever digital sports radio networks - in 2012. Since the network began, we have had some of the best content in digital sports media. We have six quality shows on our network covering all sports and sports betting. I’m currently hosting New York’s Sports Loud Mouth, and you can find that show and the rest of our great shows at https://worldwidesportsradio.com/.
Our network’s content and listenership has grown significantly year to year and, in the past year, we’ve achieved 3.6 million minutes listened on our audio stream, over 29k followers on tik tok, 500k viewed on YouTube, 1.7 million downloads on Apple Podcasts, and 906,917 plays on Spotify. While we are enjoying a continued increase in growth, I feel that we can take this to a new level and a new audience with your help.
My goal since the day I started is to become the greatest and most recognizable sports radio show host in the country. I can guarantee that nobody in this industry currently has my passion, personality or ability to shape the future of sports broadcasting and entertainment like I do. If given the opportunity, I hope to further share my story and many talents with you and your station.
