There are bad football games.
There are embarrassing football games.
And then there are games where you start wondering if the Giants accidentally booked a Monday night team-building exercise at an orthopedic clinic.
The New York Giants walked into Los Angeles expecting to play football.
They walked out of a 28-6 loss to the Rams looking like they needed to call an Uber to the nearest hospital.
And just when Giants fans thought things couldn’t get any worse, quarterback Jaxson Dart went down with what is believed to be a sprained MCL.
That’s right.
The rookie quarterback who Giants fans have been praying would be the answer suddenly found himself in the medical tent instead of trying to answer the Rams defense.
And Giants fans everywhere collectively said:
“OH, COME ON!”
Dart suffered the injury during the Giants’ opening series when Rams linebacker Byron Young hit him from the quarterback’s right side, sending Dart into linebacker Josaiah Stewart.
Dart hit the turf hard, immediately grabbed his left knee and headed for the blue medical tent.
And Giants fans knew immediately this wasn’t one of those situations where the quarterback gets up, shakes it off and says:
“I’m good.”
Nope.
Dart came out of the tent and was limping toward the locker room.
That’s when Giants fans started staring at their televisions like they were watching a horror movie.
“Please don’t be serious. Please don’t be serious. Please don’t be serious.”
X-rays were negative, which is obviously good news, but Dart is scheduled for an MRI Tuesday.
The early belief is that the injury isn’t expected to be long-term or season-ending.
And thank goodness, because the Giants have already suffered enough this season.
They don’t need to start putting quarterbacks on the injury report like they’re collecting baseball cards.

DART WANTED BACK IN — THE DOCTORS SAID, “SIT DOWN, JAXSON!”
Here’s the part Giants fans are going to love about Dart.
The kid apparently wanted to go back into the game.
According to sources, Dart tried to convince the Giants to let him return in the first half.
The Giants basically said:
“That’s cute. Now sit your butt down.”
Cam Skattebo explained that Dart obviously wasn’t happy about the decision, but the medical staff wasn’t taking any chances.
And honestly, that’s probably the right call.
Because quarterbacks are supposed to be tough.
They’re supposed to want to play.
But there’s a difference between being tough and turning your knee into a loose shopping cart wheel.
Skattebo said the doctors told Dart he should probably sit out, and Dart eventually came back to the sideline in street clothes.
At least he was still trying to give his teammates energy.
That’s the kind of thing you want to see from your quarterback.
But I’m sure Dart was thinking:
“I could probably play.”
And the medical staff was thinking:
“You could probably also make the injury worse, so how about we don’t do that?”
THEN CAME JAMIESTIME
Enter Jameis Winston.
And Giants fans immediately knew this game was about to get interesting.
Unfortunately, not the good kind of interesting.
Winston finished 11-of-27 for 111 yards and an interception.
That’s not a stat line.
That’s a cry for help.
The Giants’ offense went from looking somewhat functional the previous week against Dallas to looking like somebody unplugged the controller.
And let’s be fair to Winston.
Coming into a game after your starting quarterback gets hurt is never easy.
But the Giants offense couldn’t get anything going.
Six points.
That’s it.
Six.
The Rams scored 28.
At one point, I wasn’t sure if the Giants were playing an NFL game or participating in a corporate-sponsored field goal challenge.
AND THEN THE INJURY PARADE CONTINUED!
Because apparently Jaxson Dart wasn’t enough.
Wide receiver Malik Nabers went down with a shoulder injury after trying to make a catch in the second quarter.
He grabbed his shoulder, went to the sideline and eventually returned.
Nabers said afterward that he popped his shoulder back in and would get an X-ray.
And here’s where you know how competitive this kid is.
Nabers basically said:
“We just lost Dart. I didn’t want to give the team another loss.”
That’s football-player language for:
“I have absolutely no interest in sitting down while my team is getting destroyed.”
He finished with one catch for one yard on four targets.
One catch.
One yard.
That’s not exactly the fantasy football performance Nabers managers were hoping for.
Meanwhile, Giants fans were probably staring at the television wondering:
“Can somebody PLEASE stop getting hurt?”
Apparently not.
ANDREW THOMAS JOINED THE PARTY
Later in the game, left tackle Andrew Thomas headed to the medical tent with a groin injury.
He didn’t return.
Because why not?
At this point, the Giants medical tent probably had a waiting list.
You had Dart.
You had Nabers.
You had Thomas.
You had Brian Burns.
I’m surprised the Giants weren’t handing out numbers like a deli counter.
“Number 47, Brian Burns! Number 48, Andrew Thomas! Please proceed to the medical tent!”
And then came Burns.
BRIAN BURNS’ ANKLE SAYS, “I’M DONE TOO!”
Burns suffered what John Harbaugh described as a low ankle sprain late in the game.
He couldn’t put much weight on the leg as he left the field.
Burns left the stadium wearing a boot and needed a golf cart to get to the team buses.
That’s when you know your night has gone completely off the rails.
When the golf cart becomes your transportation option, Monday Night Football has officially turned into Monday Night Orthopedics.
Burns said the injury wasn’t anything serious and that he’s dealt with similar issues before.
That’s obviously encouraging.
And Giants fans desperately need some good news after this disaster.

HARBAUGH: “IT’S NOT THE DEVASTATING OUTCOME”
Giants coach John Harbaugh tried to put everything into perspective afterward.
Regarding Dart’s injury, Harbaugh said the MRI would provide a much clearer picture but emphasized that it doesn’t appear to be the devastating outcome.
And that’s the biggest piece of good news coming out of this mess.
The early indications are that Dart isn’t expected to miss an extended period.
Nabers, Burns and Thomas also aren’t expected to miss significant time.
So maybe — just maybe — the Giants avoided the absolute nightmare scenario.
But they still got their doors blown off by the Rams.
And that’s the part nobody can ignore.
THIS WASN’T JUST A LOSS — IT WAS A COMPLETE MELTDOWN
The Giants had just beaten Dallas the previous week.
There was excitement.
There was optimism.
Giants fans started thinking:
“Maybe this team is turning the corner.”
Then they traveled to Los Angeles and basically drove directly into a brick wall.
The offense couldn’t move the football.
The quarterback got hurt.
The backup quarterback struggled.
Nabers got hurt.
Thomas got hurt.
Burns got hurt.
And the scoreboard looked like the Rams were playing against a team that forgot to bring its offense.
That’s football.
One week you’re the talk of the town.
The next week you’re trying to figure out why everybody is limping.
The Giants now have to wait for the MRI results on Dart and additional information on Nabers, Thomas and Burns.
And Giants fans?
Take a breath.
Seriously.
Because as ugly as Monday night was, the most important thing is that the injuries don’t appear to be season-ending disasters.
That’s the good news.
The bad news?
The Giants still have to explain what the hell happened on that football field.
Because losing 28-6 is ugly enough.
Doing it while watching your quarterback, star receiver, left tackle and best pass rusher all leave the game?
That’s not a football game.
That’s an episode of “Everybody Hates the Giants.”
And Giants fans didn’t even get paid for watching it.
Welcome to New York football.
Where the injuries are complimentary and the therapy isn’t.

My name is Errol Marks and I’d like to tell you why I believe I can be a major asset to your station. I’m from a small town in Long Island, NY and from a very young age I’ve always had a love for sports talk radio. Growing up, I would listen religiously to shows like Mike and the Mad Dog, Mike and Mike, and Imus in the Morning and studied what made those shows so great. I’ve made it my goal to be as influential as the hosts I grew up listening to, and with my knowledge of all major sports, enthusiastic and fearless personality, and my preparation skills, I know I can get to that level. This is an art and a medium that I’m passionate about and one that I feel can never be replaced.
What makes my story so unique goes beyond my 10+ years of experience in sports media. In addition to over ten years of creating and hosting sports talk radio shows, I created the World Wide Sports Radio Network - one of the first ever digital sports radio networks - in 2012. Since the network began, we have had some of the best content in digital sports media. We have six quality shows on our network covering all sports and sports betting. I’m currently hosting New York’s Sports Loud Mouth, and you can find that show and the rest of our great shows at https://worldwidesportsradio.com/.
Our network’s content and listenership has grown significantly year to year and, in the past year, we’ve achieved 3.6 million minutes listened on our audio stream, over 29k followers on tik tok, 500k viewed on YouTube, 1.7 million downloads on Apple Podcasts, and 906,917 plays on Spotify. While we are enjoying a continued increase in growth, I feel that we can take this to a new level and a new audience with your help.
My goal since the day I started is to become the greatest and most recognizable sports radio show host in the country. I can guarantee that nobody in this industry currently has my passion, personality or ability to shape the future of sports broadcasting and entertainment like I do. If given the opportunity, I hope to further share my story and many talents with you and your station.
