Last Saturday, April 19th, I had the pleasure to attend and cover a workout session with 2025 NFL Draft prospect Tedy Afful. The workout was held at Panther Park in Cedar Grove, New Jersey where Tedy showed us his skills. He worked out for about an hour and put his whole skillset on display. Last year Tedy played his final year of college football at Duquesne University where he shined, posting his best season of his college career. Once the season concluded Tedy declared for the 2025 NFL Draft. Let’s backtrack a little bit and talk about Tedy’s journey and how he got to where he is today. I had the privilege of interviewing Tedy twice while also talking with him one on one at his workout. Tedy is a humble guy and football is his life. After speaking with him it became clear to me how much this year’s upcoming draft means to him. Tedy played highschool football at DePaul Catholic in Wayne, New Jersey. DePaul is notorious for being one of the top football schools in the state. Coming out of high school Tedy had multiple offers from NEC and FCS Division One schools. Tedy committed to play at Stony Brook University after his senior year of high school. At Stony Brook Tedy played solid football but was finding it hard to take that next step forward. I spoke with Tedy’s three brothers as well and they all told me how Tedy wasn’t getting the love he deserved. So after two seasons at Stony Brook Tedy made the decision to enter the transfer portal and look to find a new home. This was a monumental moment in his career. “Before even going into the portal I had those connections back from high school that I made with the FCS and NEC schools; I’m big on connections and relationships and it felt like I had a couple of homes where I could possibly land myself.” Tedy told me in an interview. The school that Tedy had the best relationships with was Duquesne and that’s where he decided to transfer to. In his first season with his new team Tedy exploded onto the scene. Racking up 455 yards (previously at Stony Brook-108), five touchdowns (previously at Stony Brook-1) as his presence took the NEC by storm. “I feel I was getting better as a football player at Stony Brook, but at Duquesne they also made me a better man.” He told me in an interview. He followed his incredible 2023 campaign at Duquesne with an even better one in his second year at the school. Tedy had 568 yards, to go along with six touchdowns (both career highs). After back to back great years with Duquesne, Tedy declared for the draft on February 22nd. Fast forward to today, the draft is only three days away at the time of writing this. As the title says, Tedy had a remarkable workout this Saturday. He did an array of drills and routes. One of his most impressive features is his toe tap. His brothers call him “Toe tap Tedy.” As the name fits. Tedy ran sideline drills to both sides, displaying his incredible toe tap skills. He is also incredibly agile and flexible as he showed us that with multiple over the shoulder grabs. The wind Saturday was strong and gave the ball plenty of carry. Tedy had to fully extend for some of his catches and impressed us all with his acrobatic jump ball grabs. I had a great time at his workout and thoroughly enjoyed getting to know him and his family. “Family means everything to me; My brothers are my biggest role models” he told me.
