You’re Telling Me $17 MILLION Vanished… and Shohei Thought It Was Netflix?
Ladies and gentlemen… somebody help me out here because I’m trying to understand how the greatest baseball player on the planet can hit a baseball 470 feet, throw 100 mph, steal bases like he’s The Flash… but somehow doesn’t notice $17 MILLION leaving his bank account.
Seventeen million dollars!
Not seventeen bucks.
Not a forgotten DoorDash order.
Not a gym membership you forgot to cancel.
SEVENTEEN… MILLION… DOLLARS!
Now before everybody starts screaming at me, let’s be clear. Federal investigators concluded that Shohei Ohtani was the victim, and there’s no evidence that he placed bets or participated in the gambling scheme. That’s the official finding.
But here’s where The Mouth starts scratching his head…
We’re supposed to believe his interpreter was making withdrawals so big they probably had the bank asking, “Sir… are you buying a small country today?”… and nobody thought to ask any questions?
Come on!
If $37.99 disappears from my account because my wife forgot to tell me she ordered something on Amazon, my phone is lighting up like Times Square.
Meanwhile, $17 million is walking out the front door like it owns the place, and everybody’s acting like, “Nothing to see here!”
Really?
Ippei Mizuhara changed his story faster than a Mets fan changes World Series predictions in April.
First it was…
“Yeah, Shohei knew. He agreed to help me.”
Twenty-four hours later…
“Actually… never mind… I made that up.”
That’s not changing your story.
That’s changing sports.
That’s changing ZIP codes.
That’s changing planets!
The investigators say the text messages between Shohei and Ippei were “vanilla.”
Vanilla?
Of course they were!
Nobody is texting…
“Hey, thanks for stealing another couple million today. See you at batting practice.”
That’s probably not how crimes work.
But here’s my question…
How do you never notice your interpreter is living like he’s starring in “The Wolf of Wall Street”?
If my best friend suddenly showed up driving Ferraris, wearing watches worth more than my house, and saying, “Don’t worry about it,” I’m asking questions before dessert.
Again, I’m not saying Shohei committed a crime. The evidence presented by investigators says he didn’t, and that’s important.
I’m just saying… if $17 million disappeared from my account, I’d notice before the bank finished processing the transfer.
I’d be calling my bank, my accountant, my lawyer, my mother, my ex-girlfriend, my dog… EVERYBODY!
The whole story still feels crazier than a Yankees-Red Sox extra-inning game with Angel Hernandez behind the plate.
Maybe Shohei really had no idea.
Maybe he trusted Ippei completely.
Maybe that’s exactly what happened.
But if you expect me to believe that $17 million disappeared without raising a single eyebrow, I’ve got some beachfront property in Kansas I’d love to sell you.
This story isn’t just unbelievable…
It’s the greatest disappearing act since David Copperfield.
Only this time, the rabbit was worth $17 million.

I’m from a small town in Long Island, NY and from a very young age I’ve always had a love for sports talk radio. Growing up, I would listen religiously to shows like Mike and the Mad Dog, Mike and Mike, and Imus in the Morning and studied what made those shows so great. I’ve made it my goal to be as influential as the hosts I grew up listening to, and with my knowledge of all major sports, enthusiastic and fearless personality, and my preparation skills, I know I can get to that level. This is an art and a medium that I’m passionate about and one that I feel can never be replaced.
What makes my story so unique goes beyond my 10+ years of experience in sports media. In addition to over ten years of creating and hosting sports talk radio shows, I created the World Wide Sports Radio Network - one of the first ever digital sports radio networks - in 2012. Since the network began, we have had some of the best content in digital sports media. We have six quality shows on our network covering all sports and sports betting. While we are enjoying a continued increase in growth, I feel that we can take this to a new level and a new audience with your help.
My goal since the day I started is to become the greatest and most recognizable sports radio show host in the country.
