Philip Rivers is officially back in the NFL, and not in a cool “MJ wearing the 45” comeback kind of way — more like the Colts opened a storage closet, found Rivers next to a stack of old playbooks and said, “Eh… he’ll do.”
Five years retired.
Five years coaching high school kids who think cover-2 is an iPhone update. Five years of driving a 15-passenger family van large enough to transport a small army.
And now he’s suddenly the answer to the Colts’ season?
This is peak NFL chaos — and I’m here for every second of it.
Mike Francesa gave him the nickname because Rivers used to launch passes like he was trying to smash a double-pane window in Yonkers.
And I say that with love.
Rivers was electric.
Rivers was emotional.
Rivers talked trash like a church youth pastor trying to hype up a dodgeball game.
He was an all-time great.
A future Hall of Famer.
But do I think this comeback is smart?
No.
This idea has more red flags than an Antonio Brown press conference.
This is a man I genuinely respect.
He played the game with heart.
He played through injuries that would keep normal humans from lifting their TV remote. He raised enough children to field his own punt-return unit.
He’s a football legend.
But this move?
After five years away?
This is like the Colts saying, “We’re drowning! Quick — throw us a bowling ball.”
Anthony Richardson broke down.
Jones blew out his Achilles.
The team’s confidence is disappearing faster than a Jets lead in the fourth quarter.

Meanwhile the Jaguars are sprinting away with the division like they stole something, and the Texans’ defense looks like it was built in a secret lab by J.J. Watt’s ghost.
So the Colts did what desperate people do:
Scrolled through their phone like it was 2 AM…
looking for someone, ANYONE, who might save them.
“Peyton? Nah.
Luck? Don’t even bother.
Wentz? Absolutely not.
Flacco? He’s busy saving someone else’s season.
Wait… wait…
RIVERS???”
Break glass.
Hit emergency button.
Cue the bolo tie.
Most NFL comebacks:
- Training
- Conditioning
- Throwing sessions
- Nutrition plans
Philip Rivers’ comeback:
- Wiping finger paint off his shoes
- Coaching 16-year-olds on three-step drops
- Driving to practice in a school bus he legally owns
- Saying “Dadgummit!” when his wife reminds him the Colts called
This is NOT a normal comeback.
This is a sitcom plot.
Rivers didn’t have to do this.
He could’ve stayed retired.
He could’ve kept teaching high school quarterbacks who eat Pop-Tarts before games.
He could’ve enjoyed life with the entire population of his household.
But he said yes.
Because he loves the game.
Because he’s competitive.
Because he’s Philip Freakin’ Rivers.

And I’ll root for him.
I’ll always root for him.
But I’m also gonna say — on Joba and the Mouth loud and proud — this is a terrible idea.
A hilarious idea.
A chaotic, beautiful disaster.
Philip Rivers is back and the NFL is once again the funniest sports league in America.
The Colts think he can rescue a season that’s crumbling like a stale cookie.
The division rivals are playing like they actually know what they’re doing.
And Rivers?
He’s stepping onto that field like a dad who accidentally wandered into a Pro Bowl.
I love him.
I respect him.
But Lord have mercy…
this is gonna be a disaster I cannot wait to watch.

My name is Errol Marks and I’d like to tell you why I believe I can be a major asset to your station. I’m from a small town in Long Island, NY and from a very young age I’ve always had a love for sports talk radio. Growing up, I would listen religiously to shows like Mike and the Mad Dog, Mike and Mike, and Imus in the Morning and studied what made those shows so great. I’ve made it my goal to be as influential as the hosts I grew up listening to, and with my knowledge of all major sports, enthusiastic and fearless personality, and my preparation skills, I know I can get to that level. This is an art and a medium that I’m passionate about and one that I feel can never be replaced.
What makes my story so unique goes beyond my 10+ years of experience in sports media. In addition to over ten years of creating and hosting sports talk radio shows, I created the World Wide Sports Radio Network - one of the first ever digital sports radio networks - in 2012. Since the network began, we have had some of the best content in digital sports media. We have six quality shows on our network covering all sports and sports betting. I’m currently hosting New York’s Sports Loud Mouth, and you can find that show and the rest of our great shows at https://worldwidesportsradio.com/.
Our network’s content and listenership has grown significantly year to year and, in the past year, we’ve achieved 3.6 million minutes listened on our audio stream, over 29k followers on tik tok, 500k viewed on YouTube, 1.7 million downloads on Apple Podcasts, and 906,917 plays on Spotify. While we are enjoying a continued increase in growth, I feel that we can take this to a new level and a new audience with your help.
My goal since the day I started is to become the greatest and most recognizable sports radio show host in the country. I can guarantee that nobody in this industry currently has my passion, personality or ability to shape the future of sports broadcasting and entertainment like I do. If given the opportunity, I hope to further share my story and many talents with you and your station.
