Week one was full of shenanigans, as it always is, with teams getting their shot to show the world what their squad is all about. During Week One of the 2026–27 season, we had a blast watching all of the games unfold. We saw all of the New York teams win their season openers for the first time since 2008, teams that had disappointing years last season come back strong, and, most importantly, we saw the NFL back in full swing. Ladies and gentlemen, without further ado, let’s take a look and begin our journey once again as we go through my Top 32 Power Rankings after Week One of the 2026–27 NFL season. If you don’t like where your team is placed, don’t worry! This list fluctuates weekly and is not the end all, be all.
1. Seahawks: Seattle kicked off the 2026-27 NFL season and had a bittersweet opener as they convincingly won their superbowl rematch against the Patriots but their star quarterback Sam Darnold only lasted a couple plays before leaving with an injury. The Seahawks’ show had to still go on so it was Drew Lock as their quarterback for the rest of the way but he himself was serviceable and the defense still played for their quarterback. The crowd was obviously still a factor as Seattle is still one of the hardest places to play in the NFL and it was easy to see its effect on the game. The defense took many balls away from opposing quarterback Drake Maye and forced turnovers making this game unreachable for New England. Seattle is 15-1 in their last 16 games which leaves them at #1 on my power rankings despite their glaring injury at the quarterback position. Quarterback Sam Darnold is set to miss a couple weeks so expect to see rookie Jadarian Price ramped up even more as this offense will need to lean even more on receiver JSN and the rest of the offense.
2. Bills: Josh Allen continues to put this team on his back and it showed this past Sunday. This was a hard fought game against the Houston Texans as they have one of the best defenses in the whole league. Josh Allen, as I mentioned before, put the team on his back with multiple rushing touchdowns and continued to manage the game with plenty of third down conversions. This was a thriller for the season opener for Buffalo and this upcoming week they get to test their luck in primetime against Detroit who themselves are coming off a thriller of a game that they had versus New Orleans. It’s a brand new stadium for Buffalo that they get to play in this week and we will see if new addition D.J Moore and quarterback Josh Allen will continue their new found connection on the field. James Cook will certainly find the endzone this week also as he was super close to in week one. Watch out for Josh Allen and the Bills. Despite their new coaching staff, it is still the same Josh Allen.
3. Rams: The Los Angeles Rams opened their season in Australia and it was truly a disaster for their first game. Not only did they not keep it close with San Francisco but their newest addition in Myles Garret on the defensive side is now placed on injured reserve with injury, missing an extended period of time. Matthew Stafford also looked kind of rusty and this was not the Rams that we are used to seeing. Sure it was a divisional rivalry game and those can always go either way but for the preseason superbowl pick for many people, this was a very disappointing outing. Especially for the defense that had immense hype going into this season. They allowed a lot of yards through the air from Brock Purdy and his new offense with Christian McCaffrey having a field day on the ground. I expect head coach Sean Mcvay to go back to the drawing board and the Rams are still a top 5 team in the league at this point. They have way too much talent on this roster with players like Trent Mcduffie making an immediate impact and I expect this team to bounce back this week on Monday night against the New York Giants. Considering how the Giants just played against the Cowboys however, maybe that game won’t be as easy as some think. It is easy to see most of the team being affected by the long travel to Australia but lets get it together LA!
4. Chiefs: Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes seems inevitable and the fact that he came back from injury so soon is super impressive and it’s inspirational at this point. His goal was simple on Monday night and that was to go out there and still play like himself. Mahomes had a rushing touchdown to start the game and from there, the tone was set. Rookie corner Mansoor Delane had an immediate impact intercepting Bo Nix very early on in the game and it was easy to see the revamped Chiefs defense that had played kind of poorly just a season ago. Their newest addition with the payday of superbowl MVP Kenneth Walker III seems so worth it as the offense leaned heavily on him and we could tell that head coach Andy Reid was not playing around. The Chiefs ran the ball a ton and even had a play with backup quarterback Justin Fields with him lining up into the backfield that later led to yet another Kenneth Walker III touchdown. If the Chiefs play like this every game they are easily superbowl contenders like they always have been and it was honestly surprising to see them toy with their divisional rivals. For this upcoming week it is at home versus the Colts. 2-0 for K.C?
5. Ravens: Baltimore absolutely shattered the Colts dream in their season opener and the Baltimore Ravens won very convincingly. Lamar Jackson was clearly in full effect and he seemed 100%. The Ravens had a super disappointing year last year but things seem to click for them in week one. Derek Henry seems like he wants to be the best running back in NFL history and this year he can take touchdown records away from LaDainian Tomilson and Emmett Smith. I love what I saw from Derrick Henry on Sunday and he killed the Colts on the ground. The offense flourished and Zay Flowers had one of the best receiver performances in week one despite only playing roughly a half of football. Recently he has been updated to Day to Day with an injury but hopefully soon he can be back on the field for his quarterback. The AFC North seems like it’s the Baltimore Ravens division to lose as the division has a ton of question marks. Upcoming, they have the New Orleans Saints and clearly they can start 2-0. Is it finally Lamar’s year?
6. Eagles: Obviously the Philadelphia Eagles would have liked to beat the Washington commanders by a higher score, but it was just not that way. Eagles running back Saquon Barkley was still effective on the ground and so was quarterback Jalen Hurts through the air, but the Commanders still had them have drives stall and ultimately the Commanders stayed in the game. Takeaways from the Eagles season opener included the offensive line needing to play a little sharper, however the defense still played well and forced the Commanders to punt numerous times. For these next upcoming weeks for Philly I would like to see their receivers involved more but with a matchup against the Tennessee Titans I expect them to use Saquon Barkley even more and have the offense run through him. Yet another team I see starting 2-0.
7. 49ers: 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy looked great in the 49ers season opener. He looked very comfortable in the pocket, passing to his new receivers like Mike Evans, who made an immediate impact. Fred Warner was seen flying across the field yet again and the 49ers defense also played Sharp getting to Stafford. These NFC West divisional games are huge and the fact the 49ers took the first one surprised everybody but how long can they keep this up, though? We will have to see for ourselves in the upcoming weeks next for San Francisco. They have Miami, which will be an easy opponent. If this team can stay healthy, they will be contenders.
8. Bears: The Chicago Bears were a part of history as they contributed to the most points scored in a week one NFL game, in NFL history. Ben Johnson’s offense put up 59 points over the Carolina Panthers and quarterback Caleb Williams looked amazing. He himself was still not satisfied after the win, but the Bears have plenty to be proud of. Their defense still might hold little question marks, but the offense running through Kyle Monangai and DeAndre Swift look like a good duo once again. Next week for Chicago they have Carson Wentz and the Minnesota Vikings coming to town. I expect them to win that matchup and to honestly have a good year this year. I just hope the Bears don’t revert back to their old ways of falling apart, this is a huge year for Caleb Williams and the Bears and this NFC North division is hard though with the Packers weekend without Micah Parsons can the Bears make an early push?
9. Patriots: New England might be the only team on this list where I might look at them and say why are they that low on the list? Well the best part about this list is that it fluctuates weekly and I expect the Patriots to continue their Super Bowl slump. They did not look good at all versus Seattle during their opener and even 9 seems like a spot too low for them. However, we still have to take into consideration that Mike Vrabel is their head coach and that Drake Maye will probably bounce back from this game. This was uncharacteristic of him being super careless with the football, throwing multiple interceptions and totally looking lost. AJ Brown went down with an injury as well. Was one of the worst scenarios for the Patriots except Mack Hollins and Romeo Doubbs have an increased workload in the receiver room. We have seen teams have a Super Bowl slump before, but how bad will New England be this year?
10. Broncos: The Denver Broncos got simply embarrassed by the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday night. Bo Nix did not look great out there and the defense out of all things was the worst thing to look at on Monday night. Denver’s defense set records last year for being one of the best defenses you will see but Patrick Mahomes made them look silly. I bet Sean Peyton was ripping them after the game telling them the stuff that they needed to fix and that they will definitely go back to the drawing board this week. With the offense’s addition in Jaylen Waddle I thought was not utilized enough as a receiver only having a few receptions, and their offense in general looked flat a lot of times. This is not the Denver we are used to seeing and hopefully they can bounce back from this and hopefully they do not fall down on the list any further.
11. Texans: Houston’s defense is still not the problem and their offense is not really the problem either but this was a sort of unlucky win for Houston. They stayed in the game with Buffalo till the very end and it was close for pretty much the whole way through. Texans Quarterback CJ Stroud made his season debut and did not commit too many mistakes. This will be a tough race for the AFC south with the Jacksonville Jaguars also considering how hot of a team they look, but for now I put Houston above Jacksonville simply because of how good their defense will continue to play. Texans Running back David Montgomery was clearly gonna get into the endzone and I like that addition for the Texans offense and for CJ Stroud.
12. Jaguars: The Jacksonville Jaguars look hot. Trevor Lawrence threw for almost 300 yards and four touchdowns. The offense had a field day with the Cleveland Browns defense, and Parker, Washington, as a receiver has emerged. The defense kept the Browns offense off the field for nearly the whole game and it was ugly for the Cleveland Browns. Jacksonville has a mission this year and they want to shock the world bearing any injuries. I think they can get it done and be a serious contender this year, especially if Trevor Lawrence keeps playing like that.
13. Lions: Detroit should have beat New Orleans by a bigger score, but that’s what happens when you sleep on the Saints and their defense. This was the first time we saw Jamir Gibbs in a running back role and it obviously worked as he got most of the touches. Amon-Ra Saint Brown was clearly a contributor yet again for the Lions offense getting to the end zone early and he gives this offense plenty of help as always. The game almost went into double overtime, but the lion still persisted and ultimately came away with the W at home. A super disappointing year for Detroit last year gives me hope for them this year to make it a better year and for them to go farther with the Packers and the Bears being in the division, however that makes things 100 times harder.
14. Packers: You must be asking yourself, Ben, why do you have the Packers above the Vikings if they just lost to the Vikings? Well for me it was simple. The Packers have Jordan Love at quarterback, and if the game was played at Lambeau Field, I would expect a different result. Christian Watson is still a deep ball threat and this offense is still produced even without the star running back Josh Jacobs. The Green Bay Packers travel to the Meadowlands to face the New York Jets this week and I expect them to get back to an even 1-1. Matt Lefleur’s clock is ticking and the Packers need to start winning for them to show everyone they can still compete in the race for the NFC North. The defense is without Mark Parsons and it shows. They need to win as much as possible while he is out injured.
15. Bengals: Would you look at that the Bengals defense played well. The Bengals forced multiple fumbles giving Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow and the offense plenty to work with. Many expected the season opener against the Buccaneers to be close, but Cincinnati had other plans. The defense forced their will like I just said, and despite Bengals receiver Ja’Marr Chase not being that active on the offense, the offense still put up a number of points. Impressive victory for the Bengals.
16. Vikings: The Minnesota Vikings had a disappointing opener, considering their newest addition in quarterback Kyler Murray went down very early in the beginning of the game. Obviously, they still won their opener versus Green Bay as I had predicted correctly because of their defense and because of being at home. Brian Flores’s defense continues to show why it’s one of the best in the league and that gives the Vikings the sort of mid range ranking. If quarterback Carson Wentz, or whoever is behind the offensive line can get the ball to Vikings receiver Justin Jefferson, more like they did that Sunday then the Vikings can be in decent position.
17. Giants: The New York football Giants proved myself and many wrong on Sunday night. John Harbaugh had this defense ramp up and hype for this game and it set the tone very early on against the Cowboys offense and the crowd was in it for the Sunday night, primetime game. This made watching this matchup a blast. It was shortly after the 25th year mark of the attacks on September 11, 2001 and you could feel the patriotic energy from the beginning in pregame. This was a good showing from Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart and the offense as well, as they continued to run the rock with running back Cam Skateebo. John Harbaugh’s edition of Tide and Isaiah likely also looked super positive for the offense this week. They get the Los Angeles Rams coming into town and it will certainly be something if they can upset them as well.
18. Cowboys: For the Dallas Cowboys, it was the opposite starting against the Giants for the season opener. Their defense still was the reason for them, losing the game and it was surprising, considering how bad their defense was last season. You would think that the defense would try to be a little better, but the defense could not stop a fly. Dak Prescott’s pocket presence still is elite, but the rust showed from receiver, George Pickens. The Cowboys need a bounce back victory against the commanders this upcoming week and their year quickly is off to an odd start losing to the New York Giants, not only losing to them, but not even making it close. The Dallas Cowboys only received the ball a number of times in the second half, and once they learned that the players thought it was clear why they lost the game. Do better, Dallas.
19. Chargers: The Los Angeles Chargers had one of the most disappointing performances we saw in week one. Justin Herbert played a decent game when looking at his stat line, but the turnovers that he cost the Chargers offense were simply unforgivable. Ladd McConkey also went out with an injury during the game and this all around for the Chargers is a disaster to start the season Omarion Hampton was not involved as much as you wished and the Arizona Cardinals offense walked all over the Chargers defense. If the Chargers want to compete for the AFC West they have to play much better than this. Disappointing.
20. Commanders: The Commanders looked much better than they did last year in their season opener. Quarterback Jayden Daniels returned from injury and it was easy to see that he was happy to be back out there. Receiver Antonio Williams had an amazing game and one of the best runs you will see on special teams this year. Hopefully the commanders do not fall any lower on this list like they were last year, but I doubt that considering that their quarterback is back, Stefon Diggs had a touchdown towards the end of the game, but because of his antics, it costed the commanders a two point try to ultimately try to get back into the game obviously if I’m Stefon Diggs I want that one back. Expect Jean Daniels and digs to be a major connection this year.
21. Bucs: Tampa Bay looked bad. They coughed the ball up so many times versus the Bengals and they made the Bengals defense look like the 85 Bears defense and not saying a lot about Baker Mayfield’s on a contract year that he just got paid for and this would be a huge year for him. He kept force feeding the ball to Mecca Ebuka, which is expected because this is the second year and Ebuka honestly was one of the highlights for the Buccaneers this past Sunday Bucky Irving was still involved, but it was not enough. Tampa is at home this week versus the Browns who could be a layup of a game. Bounce back Tampa.
22. Colts: After having an amazing start last year at the end, Indianapolis Colts did not meet expectations and for this past Sunday it was them picking up where they left off, getting crushed by the Baltimore Ravens. Jonathan Taylor is always a greenlight for this team and is always a positive thing to look at but the defense again was disappointing. Cornerback Sauce Gardner told reporters after the game that the amount of rushing yards they let up on the ground versus Lamar Jackson and the Ravens was clearly unacceptable. If the Colts want to keep up in the AFC south with the Texans and the Jaguars, they have to play a lot better than this.
23. Cardinals: Look at that the Cardinals are 1-0 and the Rams are 0-1. Who would’ve ever thought? Jacoby Brissett continues to still lead this offense and be a serviceable quarterback in this league. Rookie running back Jeremiyah Love made his quiet debut but still leaves stuff on the table. I expect him to have a big year and to be the Cardinals future for the offense. Positive things out of Arizona.
24. Saints: another team that has plenty to be proud of is New Orleans Saints. They went toe to toe with the Detroit Lions in their own house and took it all the way to overtime. Saints quarterback Tyler Shough had a good outing torturing the Detroit defense through the air and receiver Cris Olave made plenty of plays. The Saints were unlucky with their two point conversion. Try at the end of the game to win the game and it was a gutsy call from head coach Kellen Moore. The Saints try and even their record against Baltimore this week, but it will be no easy task.
25. Steelers: Pittsburgh’s offense left you scratching your head at times. Some drives were just meant to go longer and they just didn’t because of silly plays. Against any other team that was better than the Falcons, the Steelers would’ve easily lost this game and yes, while I may be being harsh on the team, It was just not a pretty victory for the Steelers as they should have beaten a Cooper Rush led Falcons even easier. Aaron Rodgers looked fine out there and so did receiver DK Metcalf. I always like what I see out of running back Jaylen Warren, but the new addition of running back Rico Dowdle left a little more to be desired. I am not worried, however, as it is still early, and I expect him to get accommodated quickly. Still hard to see the Steelers as contenders in the AFC North.
26. Panthers: The Panthers defense was straight up, not good. They let up 59 points to the Chicago Bears making history during week one. Bryce Young continues to find his receivers like Jaylen Coker and others but it seems like the defense will always hold this Carolina team back. Running back Jonathan Brooks made an early impact as he split the backfield with Chubba Hubbard as well as giving Tet. Mcmilan and Bryce young some much needed help.
27. Jets: The New York Jets won a football game. It feels good to finally write positive things about the New York Jets and it is well deserved. The defense played very well against the Tennessee Titans and Cam Ward forced them off the field numerous times. It was their revenge game against Titans head coach Robert Salah and they dominated rookie star David Bailey seem to get through on every play on the defensive side of the ball and that certainly helped the Jets case. Finally to top it all off the cherry on top quarterback Gino Smith kept his slate clean, having no interceptions and passing the ball well. Well to his receivers. Seems like a lot of rookies got involved also like Ken Sadiq leading the way having his first NFL touchdown. The New York Jets have their home opener Nxt against the Green Bay Packers as they would try to be 2-0. What a sight that would be. Major credit to Aaron Glenn, the defense, and running back Breece Hall for this victory
28. Raiders: Las Vegas toyed with the Miami Dolphins and this was the Ashton Jeanty game. Jeanty had multiple rushing touchdowns and was lethal for the Raiders ground game. Las Vegas had positives on the offensive and defensive side of the ball. I’m curious to see how long it will take for them to start new rookie quarterback Fernando Mendoza. For right now the future looks bright for Las Vegas. All in all, and this opener was without one of their best players on offense tight end Brock Bowers. Considering all the other teams in the AFC West it’s hard to see the Raiders stack up against them right away, but as I mentioned their future is positive.
29. Falcons: Disappointing for Atlanta fans as it seems their quarterback room is just the new laughing gag of the NFL every year. They cannot do much against Pittsburgh at all, and Bijan Robinson was the only positive thing it seemed for the falcons this past Sunday. Running back Bijan Robinson is a special back in this league and he will be great for years and years to come. Luckily, you can include him in the passing game not only the run game but for players like Kyle Pitts and others on the offense it’s usually a slow day with the quarterback play. Disappointing year set again for Atlanta.
30. Titans: Tennessee looked horrible. Their offensive line could not block anybody and their defense just kept staying on the field. It’s disappointing to see Tennessee start like this because of the year they had last year and most of the problems they had were not fixed. Robert Salah needs to get this defense together and the offensive line is needed to block better ultimately giving Cam Ward an easier job. Easier said than done though? Losing to the Jets at home is certainly something.
31. Dolphins: Having Devon Machane as your bellcow lead running back and Achane only having 11 carries is certainly a head scratcher. It was a disaster from start to finish for the Miami Dolphins and they will certainly have some growing pains this year. Malik Willis looked serviceable and a rookie wide receiver. Caleb Douglas was another positive limelight in this game against the Raiders, but it’s just hard to see the dolphins making any if at all noise this year. Contention for the number one pick?
32. Browns: Why are the Browns even starting Deshaun Watson? Their offense had zero life in it against the Jaguars and they could not keep up from the very beginning. Browns head coach Todd Monken revealed to reporters after the game that Deshaun Watson will remain the starting quarterback and that the team does not have a choice when it comes to the starting quarterback. When will Cleveland ever catch a break? They were clearly the worst team that we watched in week one.
