NFL Week 3 Power Rankings

by | Sep 30, 2026 | General

Week three of the NFL season has passed and boy, what a week it was. We had the most one score games in NFL history during one Sunday totaling 7 one score games. The scores were back-and-forth and more upsets were had this week. We look into the power rankings after week three of the NFL season. As always, this list fluctuates so if you don’t like your team, don’t worry they might move up!
1. Bills: It was very easy to count out the Chargers before they even played the Bills, as the game got ugly very quick. It would not start as you would expect however, as Buffalo started climbing a 10-0 deficit right in the first quarter. Though Josh Allen and the offense had other plans and miraculously led a comeback sparking an uprising in the defense, ultimately winning them the game. Buffalo’s home field advantage seems obvious at this point and they seem like the team to beat as of now.
2. Chiefs: The Kansas City Chiefs toyed with Miami on their own field. At this point, who is going to pick Miami in a game? Kenneth Walker III continued to feast with the run game and that led to all of Kansas City’s receivers getting involved. This pairing of Patrick Mahomes and Kenneth Walker the third already seems like a pairing in paradise because, when you give Patrick Mahomes a top three running back this is the stuff that can happen.
3. Seahawks: Seattle simply lost a game they shouldn’t have. It was the most surprising loss of the day in most people’s opinion and Washington honestly played well. Seattle’s defense was not as strong a factor as it usually is and it was clear to see. This was a shaky first game back for Sam Darnold but I am not worried about Seattle at all as this is their first loss in almost 365 days! That’s how good of a team the Seahawks are and I don’t see them losing two in a row. Seahawks have a bounce back week against Justin Herbert and the Chargers this week, who are still winless. To me I easily see this team bouncing back this week.
4. 49ers: Divisional games are always close and that’s what it was between the Cardinals and the 49ers this past Sunday. The 49ers opened the game early with a Christian McCaffrey touchdown and it was off to the races from there. The main gripe with the 49ers team this past Sunday was special teams and the defense. It was two missed extra points from 49ers kicker Eddie Piñero that could have easily been avoided but nonetheless, the 49ers still won the game. It was odd that he nailed a 57 yard kick but could not kick two extra points. The thing is, the Cardinals still hung around in the game and the 49ers defense allowed them to keep it close despite the 49ers having a 23 point lead at one point. The team can deserve to be this high on the list just based off of what they have been accomplishing with “so little” to work with on their roster as far as healthy players.
5. Broncos: Denver started this game at an 16-0 deficit and it was a nightmare to start for Head coach Sean Peyton. Their offense could not get going at all, and it was flat for Denver straight out. Miraculously, they scored unanswered points and Denver’s defense put them right back in this game. I don’t know what was said at halftime by the coaching staff, but it was clear that some adjustments were made. A pick six later by Denver’s defense and quarterback Bo Nix put them right back in the driver’s seat. This is the Denver defense we are used to seeing and playing in Denver at Mile high was a huge factor when defeating the Rams. Big props to the Broncos for their performance this week.
6. Jags: The Jaguars also had a great performance this week in defeating the New England Patriots. Jaguars Quarterback Trevor Lawrence has never looked ever more comfortable than now and head coach Liam Coen looks like the perfect fit. The Jaguars had an easy victory over the Patriots and the Patriots offense could not keep up. If Jaxionville keeps playing like this, they could become one of the league’s best offenses this season if they are not already. Pair that with a stellar defense and the Jaguars are having high expectations this year.
7. Rams: Not having star receiver Puka Nacua is hurting this Rams offense a tad and it shows. Though, when you have monster games from star receiver Devante Adams, it makes things a whole lot of a heck easier. Head coach Sean Mcvay was seen on the sidelines trying to rally his group to stay into the game versus the Denver Broncos, but the Denver defense ultimately suffocated quarterback Matthew Stafford. Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford threw multiple interceptions and it was not a good day as regards to taking care of the football. The Rams aim to bounce back this week as they travel to Philadelphia this upcoming week. Yet another unhappy welcome awaiting being a hard place to play away from.
8. Vikings: Seeing that the Vikings continue to start hot through and through each given season recently, is impressive. The Vikings are 3-0! Vikings Quarterback Kyler Murray was back in action again and the offense was cooking. Justin Jefferson had a big day receiving the ball of course but left the game due to an ankle injury. He will be re-evaluated in the next upcoming weeks and hopefully one of the league’s best receivers can get back into action soon. The Vikings story has always been a quarterback away team, but this year health plays another huge factor for this team.
9. Ravens: The Baltimore Ravens pulled off their victory in dramatic fashion against the Dallas Cowboys in Rio, Brazil and it was a great game. Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson had another huge day rushing the ball and he looks to be in full health. The question is with this Ravens team is how far will they get in the playoffs? Will Lamar and this offense finally show up and leap their hurdle in a playoff game? They have no excuses now as the sky is quite the limit with this team if they keep it up. Ravens Running back Derrick Henry is close to the all-time touchdown leader list as he cements himself further as the best running back in the league. Wide receiver Zay Flowers was also back in this game from injury and it was obvious that he made a huge impact in his return.
10. Bengals: The Cincinnati Bengals defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers in a close one, and it was a hard fought battle throughout. Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow leaned on his offensive weapons again and wide receiver Tee Higgins, and wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase. The defense seems for real as they continued their consistency in this game as well and helped keep the Bengals in this game versus a divisional opponent. The Bengals have no easy task defeating the Jacksonville Jaguars this week and it will be a hard game once again. The question will be with this team similar to the Minnesota Vikings is how healthy can this team stay?
11.Bears: The Chicago Bears shocked the entire league when they ended up ending the week 3 games against Philadelphia on Monday night football. Backup quarterback Case Keenum started in star quarterback’s Caleb Wiliams place and he did very well. The Bears offense stayed on the field and the Bears defense had one of those games where it seemed like it clicked on all cylinders for their defense. Which is hard for Bear’s defense to do. Ben Johnson had both sides of the ball performing well and a convincing victory at home was their prize for it. This week for Chicago Caleb Williams won’t be playing again however, they do not have to travel and play the Jets at home. I digress.
12. Lions: The Detroit Lions defeated the New York Jets but surprisingly, the Jets walked all over the Detroit defense and very much stayed in the football game pretty much the whole way through. If the Detroit Lions do not figure something out with their defensive efforts, then in the future it will continue to bite them and eventually they will lose games because of it. We already saw what happened in Buffalo last week. They still won the game and there were still a lot of positives with this one for Detroit. Star running back Jahmyr Gibbs had a monster 3 touchdown game with 164 yards from scrimmage. Another game also where Amon Ra St. Brown got into the endzone. Something we may see all year from the Lions is those two keeping them in games or being the reason they win.
13. Eagles: The Eagles dropped a dud versus the Chicago Bears and it was an ugly showing from quarterback Jalen Hurts. The offense could not get going at all and kept moving off the field. Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts kept throwing interceptions and honestly the offense just never got going and could never recover from the lack of offense. The defense did what they could for Philadelphia, but it was just not enough. Pair that with also a lot of penalties and it was disastrous for Philadelphia. This upcoming week they are at home hosting the Rams and I am sure it will be another bloodbath this week for Philly.
14. Cowboys: The Cowboys offense like the Lions, continues to keep them in games but their defense is going to have to find answers quickly. It’s the same song for the Cowboys but this season, there is way more talent on the defensive side of the ball but they are not producing as much as they should. If the Cowboys defense was as good as the offense this team would shoot up the rankings. Let’s see if this defense can catch any rhythm? Grace has to be given however, to any team facing Lamar Jackson. This week for the Cowboys they travel not too far to face Houston who is struggling at 0-3.
15. Raiders: Las Vegas is accomplishing right now, exactly where they wanna be for the future star quarterback rookie Fernando Mendoza. Starting quarterback Kirk Cousins has allowed the Raiders to start 3-0 and they are in a great spot to start the season. Nobody would have guessed the success right away for the Raiders, but they find themselves in this spot. Running back Ashton Jeanty has been more than exceptional this year and he is carrying this offense. Pair that with the defense playing well and the Raiders aim to defend their undefeated record against the divisional opponent and the Kansas City Chiefs.
16. Colts: The Colts grab their first win of the season at home against their divisional rivals in the Houston Texans. Up until this point, running back Jonathan Taylor has been playing great per usual but Daniel Jones has also been playing well. It is good what we have been seeing from this Colts team these past few weeks, as we saw them play a thriller in Kanas City just one week ago. The division they are in seems wide open aside from the Jaguars with the Texans currently sitting at 0-3. Things can all change though of course.
17. Panthers: Panthers straight up were banged up a few quarters into the Cleveland game. Panthers quarterback Bryce Young kept being forced to not be comfortable in the pocket, and the offense was slow for Carolina. Cleveland’s defense allowed them to stay in the game and they made it a close one. I expect better from the Carolina team, but they will have their growing pains this year.
18. Steelers: quarterback, Aaron Rodgers, and the Steelers get a much-needed victory this week against the divisional rival Bengals. Their offense finally put up points and went back-and-forth with another team. DK Metcalf caught big passes and made his way into the end zone. Jaylen Warren carried a huge workload being the only healthy running back on his team and he exploded for over 100 yards of scrimmage a great week for the Pittsburgh Steelers as they got a much-needed must win game. Can they keep it up?
19. Pats: Quarterback Drake Maye continues to struggle and it is apparent that he is missing his #1 wide receiver in A.J Brown. It was terrible for the Patriots on offense yet again against the Jaguars, and they could not meet them at the finish line. The Patriots played similar to the way the Eagles played this week as far as their defense only being able to do so much, and then their offense just suffered for the entire game. New England might find themselves continuing going down this list. The Super Bowl slump continues. As long as the turnovers for Drake Maye keep happening, they will not be able to win a lot of football games.
20. Saints: The way that the Saints home opener went was not the way they intended it to go. Their running game was deeply missing starting running back Travis Ettienne Jr., and no one stepped up in his return. Head coach Kellen Moore gives this one up and the Saints fall to 2-1. The opportunity presented itself for the saying now the question is what would they do after they were so close? Will they continue to surprise people or would they go back to their always losing?
21. Giants: The New York Giants defeated Robert Saleh and the Tennessee Titans this past Sunday, but that’s not really saying much. Jameis Winston played exceptionally well in the absence of quarterback Jaxson Dart, and he said that the victory was dedicated to Jaxson Dart. The weather played a factor in this game and this was a game built in the trenches. Now the Giants have traded for quarterback, JJ McCarthy, and he’s expected to start soon. This will be a new look offense for the Giants, and it will be interesting to see how he will play in the absence of Dart. Can the Giants start racking up some wins in his absence?
22. Texans: Houston finds themselves free falling in this list and it is not looking good for them once again to start the season. It’s not the first time they have had a slow start as last year they started 0-2 as well. The Houston Texans defense has just not been playing that well how they usually have been and their offense just lacks things every game to start the year. There is not a number one receiver in this room and there’s also not healthy receivers in the room.
23. Packers: The Green Bay Packers opened up week 3 with playing against the Atlanta Falcons and it was a super disappointing showing from them on all cylinders except for maybe outside of Jordan Love and Christian Watson. That connection continues to grow strong. The Green Bay defense let opposing running back Bijan Robinson run all over the field and he ultimately is what sealed the game for the Falcons and the Packers could not stop him. This defense is desperately needing star edge rusher Micah Parsons back, and thankfully it would only take a couple more weeks theoretically to get him back on the field. Green Bay you cannot do your fans like that again in a season opener for a while! Matthew Golden lastly, is finally getting more involved in this offense and they are giving him the ball more and more each given week. Do better Green Bay!
24. Chargers: The Los Angeles Chargers seem like they are dead in water as of now. No spark from either side of the ball versus Buffalo and they could honestly be even lower on this list. I wonder if things don’t get figured out quickly in Los Angeles how long will Justin Herbert continue to stay? It really is that bad for the Chargers and it is only 3 games into the season.
25. Browns: Quarterback Deshaun Watson played well this past Sunday and that is a statement that has not been said in a very, very long time. The Cleveland Browns defense as I mentioned before, suffocated opposing quarterback Bryce Young and ultimately is what kept the Browns in that game. The Browns are 1-2 on the year and they manage to scrummage up a win in their home opener.
26. Commanders: It was Vintage Marcus Mariota that we saw this past Sunday against the Seahawks and it was a treat for Commanders fans. The offense moved the ball up and down the field and recent acquisition Stefon Diggs has earned his role as a frequent target in this offense. It was a surprising upset to many but this will certainly be a big deal to Washington if they can manage to keep winning more football games with star quarterback Jayden Daniels on the sideline due to injury. It is important to monitor this situation in the NFC East still.
27. Jets: The New York Jets as stated before, played exceptionally well against the Lions and kept putting points up on the board even in an away game in Detroit. The Defense looks more like themselves compared to last year and this Jet defense has started strongly throughout 3 weeks. Star wide receiver Garret Wilson is such a great football player and he continues to prove it during weeks like these as Wilson found himself in the end zone this past Sunday. Geno Smith continues to be a highlight for this team and the New York Jets hope that Geno will continue to flourish in this offense with offensive coordinator Frank Reich and head coach Aaron Glenn.
28. Falcons: The Atlanta Falcons gained their first victory of the season and it was desperation mode for them as starting quarterback Michael Penix Jr. came back into the mix. He played well but it was star running back Bijan Robinson and star receiver Drake London who gave the offense all of their juice. Atlanta may not have many if any expectations for their year but with a weak NFC South division, a lot is still possible. Many just don’t see it.
29. Cardinals: The Cardinals inched their way back into the game against their divisional rivals being the 49ers but it just was not enough. Wide receiver Marvin Harrsion Jr. is finally a little bit more involved in this offense but even that still is a quiet day for him. Outside of Jeremiyah Love and maybe Michael Wilson there are not many weapons at all on this Cardinals offense still. Will they be better than people expect though this year?
30. Bucs: Tampa is 0-3 and this is nothing short of a terrible start for their football team. Mike Evans has left the wide receiver room this past season and it seems like all momentum has been lost for Baker Mayfield and this offense. There is still star receiver Egmeka Egbuka but he can only do so much by himself. Without anyone else stepping up in this offense and with Baker Mayfield even dealing with an apparent thumb injury, it’s hard to see the Bucs bounce back immediately. They are 0-3 and still they are only one game out of first place. Crazy how things work in the NFL.
31. Titans: It’s quite frankly the same story with Tennessee every week. Poor quarterback play, poor coaching, and just no hope for this team whatsoever. They start the year 0-3 of course and it will be hard to find a win for them all year. Though, something has to shove eventually and the Titans earn their first victory of the season. The question is against who?
32. Dolphins: The Dolphins from start to finish basically had no chance against the Kansas City Chiefs. Quarterback Malik Willis has been nothing but mediocre for this team but even the quarterback does not have much to work with. Even worse, one of the worst injuries of the year, their star running back Devon Achane, suffered a torn ACL in last Sunday’s game. So the question is even bigger for the Dolphins now ; Who will step up on this football team? This team might be harder to find a win for than the Titans! I think these two bottom two teams will stay at the bottom for the rest of the year.
