Week 2 of the 2025 NFL season had its injuries, upsets, and unpredictable feats across the board and we were blessed with some more great football games. We had arguably the game of the week with the New York Giants and Dallas Cowboys heading to overtime. The Chiefs unbelievably moved to 0-2 on the season, and the emergence of the hot streak Colts offense, still not having punting the ball this season yet!

Some teams on this list might suffer in the upcoming weeks due to injured quarterbacks. As with a lot of things, time will tell for players like Justin Fields concussion injury and JJ McCarthy’s ankle injury. Some of these squads might look completely different without their starting guy.

Now going into week 2 edition of my power rankings, the best part of this list still is that it will be refreshed so if you do not like where your team is placed they will probably end up higher on this list at some point during the season.

1. Eagles: Keeping the Eagles as the number one team in the NFL is something that can very much change in the near future. QB Jalen Hurts has proven yet again and again why he does not need the most impressive stats to win a football game. He finished the day with just over 100 passing yards but the game was still won. The continued theme of recollecting that the Philadelphia Eagles have the most powerful linemen in football still has to be discussed and while despite barely finishing off the now 0-2 Chiefs, I still have Philadelphia as the team to beat. Who will hand Philly their first L?

2. Packers: The Pack was in full effect Thursday night against the Washington Commanders and they made their offense look depleted. Jordan Love threw for almost 300 passing yards while Packers tight end Tucker Kraft also had himself a night hauling in an important touchdown and finished with over 100 receiving yards. The Packers defense continued to shine especially with their pass rusher continuing his early on success with edge rusher Micah Parsons. Rashan Gary and the crew on defense showed why Micah Parsons makes every player around him better. If the Packers were to play the Eagles however, in which they do I have the Eagles winning in that contest.

3. Bills: The Buffalo Bills absolutely dismantled the New York Jets this past Sunday and it was for good reason. Previous league MVP Josh Allen almost left the game with an apparent nose injury suffered due to the fist that entered his face, but it seemed to not have mattered as he entered back into the game leading this Bills offense. Other stars shined throughout the day like James Cook rushing for over 100 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Despite missing ED Oliver in this contest it did not stop the Bills from creating turnovers and keeping the pressure high all across the board. With a win over the Baltimore Ravens as well from week 1 it was easy to keep the Bills as high on the list as they were.

4. Ravens: The Baltimore Ravens completed their division victory this past Sunday in defeating the Cleveland Browns by a victory of 41-17. On all sides of the ball they looked much more efficient in their play being led by Quarterback Lamar Jackson. He finished with over 200 yards passing and throwing for 4 TDs, while cooking up the Browns defense. While Derrick Henry had a quieter day in terms of rushing yards ( He only finished with 23 ) I still see the Ravens as one of the top teams in the AFC. The only question for me however is how their defense can perform against some of the top teams in the league.

5. Chargers: The Chargers took down two of their AFC West rivals being the Chiefs and now this past Monday night, the Las Vegas Raiders. The connection of Quinten Johnson and Justin Herbert continued to shine as he caught another long touchdown from the quarterback and the offense as a whole kept looking impressive. An apparent arm injury for Kalil Mack however is a big loss with a veteran presence potentially absent now. An improvement however for the Chargers team majorly is getting rookie running back Omarion Hampton involved as he finished with just 24 yards. John Harbaugh starting 2-0 for the second straight year is a positive they can look at moving forward with this team, and staff. With the Chiefs their counterpart starting 0-2 it is already looking positive in terms of the Charger’s chances of winning the AFC West division.

6. Bucs: Baker Mayfield stole the show Monday night after completing what seemed to be an impossible victory. Emeka Egbuka continued to flourish as he caught yet another touchdown from Baker extending his streak to 3 touchdowns in 6 quarters. Mike Evans and the rest of the offense including Bucky Irving still had some positives but the standout still was the rookie, Egbuka. Todd Bowles and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers start off yet another year 2-0 and the narrow victory over the Houston Texans will be yet another example of quarterback Baker Mayfield’s heroics. He finished the day with over 200 passing yards and 2 TDs and looks to continue his hot streak against a weaker looking Jets defense next week.

7. Rams: The Los Angeles Rams completed their victory over the Tennessee Titans and their defense came in full force after finishing the game with 5 sacks. The Titans defensive line and pass rush got to quarterback Cam Ward multiple times allowing him to not do much throughout the game. With Matthew Stafford throwing for almost 300 yards and multiple scores it was easy to see why this offense has kept flourishing with the new addition of receiver Devante Adams. The Squad of the Los Angeles Rams is still strong, however the question still lies on Matthew Stafford’s health. If he can continue to be healthy and avoid injury at his old age, I believe the Rams can still make a strong push this upcoming season with the Seahawks being their biggest threat in the division.

8. Broncos: The Denver Broncos being upsetted by the Colts still has them within the top 10 and they are still the highest team on this list despite a loss. The game played against Indy was a collection of running backs running in for scores but also a duel of the quarterbacks. Quarterback Bo Nix despite the loss, threw for 3 scores and completed most of his passes going 22-30. Though, Cortland Sutton also being shutdown as well was something for me to note as he finished with only 1 reception for 6 yards. The Broncos defense this game being uncharacteristic allowing the Colts to never punt during the game is a shocking stat for me to see. Even though Denver still left much to desire after the narrow 1 point win I expect them to bounce back easily and still show that they will be the leagues better teams this year.

9. Lions: The Lions destroying the Chicago Bears was not exactly on my bingo card but they bounced back big in this contest. The final score of 52-21 is no slouch and we have to recognize that this was another example of the Detroit Lions offense still being a threat. With Jared Goff throwing for an outstanding 5 touchdowns while wide receiver Amon Ra St Brown catching 3 of them, shows the Chicago defense was not ready at all for this Lions squad. With a powerful offense still, it will be interesting to see how coach Dan Campbell adjusts without his 2 previous offensive and defensive coordinators.

10 Seahawks: The Seahawks taking down the Steelers in convincing fashion this past Sunday proves yet again why this roster is more than solid. Jaxson Smith Njigba now enters his second game of the season already with at least 100 receiving yards or more. With quarterback Sam Darnold still moving this offense in a positive direction, I see this squad continuing to improve. All of this paired with a still solid defense now with previous offseason acquisitions, it was impressive seeing them shut down what had been thought to be a hot team coming off a week one victory in the Pittsburgh Steelers. I expect Nick Emmanwori also to continue to be involved in this defense as they look to climb through their division. With opposing Quarterback Brock Purdy missing some time, it will certainly happen soon enough.

11. Chiefs: The Chiefs do indeed fall to 0-2 to start the season and my prediction of that has come into fruition. No one expected their wide receiver room to be this depleted with injuries however, it has shown these past couple weeks how it has affected this Kansas City offense. Though with one of the top QBs in the NFL still in Patrick Mahomes, he still made close contests with both the Eagles and the Chargers who I have as both top 5 teams in this week’s rankings. The fall off of the returning AFC west champions will be monitored but in my opinion it will be more than likely a bounce back week for them against the Giants this upcoming week. The Chiefs are the highest 0-2 ranked team in this week’s rankings.

12. Falcons: Michael Penix, Bijan, and the crew got it done Sunday night against the Vikings and in convincing fashion. They showed yet another game of defensive dominance and the sticks kept moving on offense. The major key to this game was the Falcons capitalizing on turnovers and the fact that they forced them. Making it a hard night for Vikings quarterback JJ McCarthy, it is easy to see this defense to keep flourishing throughout the year as many including myself had predicted.

13. Commanders: Having the Commanders at this spot or around the 15 mark feels right to me as their offense seemed completely out of touch against the Green Bay Packers. Granted the Packers rushers are strong on defense but from what we saw last year especially from now extended wide receiver Terry Mclaurin, there was much left to be desired on offense. Quarterback Jayden Daniels is now day to day with a knee sprain injury suffered in that game in which they would have to turn to backup quarterback Marcus Mariota if that were the case. I expect the Commanders offense to have a better game against the Raiders this week but it can all rely on whether or not Jayden Daniels is cleared to play.

14. 49ers: The 49ers being 2-0 while having an abundance of injuries is still impressive. Granted the second team they faced I have ranked as the number 32 team in this week’s power rankings. Their team’s success in my opinion relies on the return table obviously of Quarterback Brock Purdy who suffered a toe injury in week 1 against the Seattle Seahawks. Though with coach Shanahan sounding like he could even return as early as this week, I could see possibly the 49ers being an interesting matchup for the Cardinals this upcoming week. Two 2-0 teams will face off and only one will come up on top improving to 3-0 on the season.

15. Colts: The Colts not having punting the ball yet this season is a stat that needs to be mentioned right off the bat. This offense’s success with newly added quarterback Daniel Jones is not something everyone saw coming. With a game of 300 yards passing and moving the ball with running back Jonathan Taylor it is interesting to see how they beat one of the league’s best being the Denver Broncos. The rookie Tyler Warren seems to be involved in back to back weeks as he continues his strong season and the defense came up clutch in a one point game. How long can Indy’s early success last with the Titans and Rams coming up?

16. Cardinals: Kyler Murray staying healthy is the key as I have said time and time again but they got it done this past Sunday against the Carolina Panthers. While the Panthers still did make it interesting, the Arizona defense continued to have positive notes as well as the offense continuing to put up points on the board. As I mentioned before they potentially have an interesting matchup against San Francisco this week If 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy plays. A potentially 3-0 Cardinals team to start the year would certainly be a sight to see.

17. Raiders: The story I believe about one of Monday night’s double header between the Las Vegas Raiders and the Los Angeles Chargers was indeed the turnovers. Raiders Quarterback Geno Smith finished the contest with 3 interceptions and it is hard to win football games that way. While they did not get destroyed by the Chargers, it was a sort of lackluster performance from the offense specifically. I was also surprised that rookie running back Ashton Jeanty was not in the gameplan as much as he was, but still early in the season I’m sure we will see his game improve as well with the rest of the Raiders squad. Both teams coming off a loss in week 2 being the Commanders and Raiders, it will be interesting to see who comes up top of that one this upcoming week in week 3.

18. Steelers: Aaron Rodgers particularly did not look great against the Seattle Seahawks throwing two interceptions and it can also be a recurring theme we had just mentioned previously with the Raiders of underperforming and slow starts. I am honestly astounded how rookie running back Kaleb Johnson is not more involved in the run game considering how good we know he was recently at Iowa. The special teams mishaps however will mostly cost him his playing time returning the ball. The Steelers defense however still kept them in that game but the question for me is how long is quarterback Aaron Rodgers going to take to return to this form we have all been talking about? Is it on the horizon? Or are the Steelers in for another mediocre year?

19. Cowboys: A 1-1 record from the Cowboys is what one might expect after facing two division rivals back to back being the Eagles and New York Giants. Though we cannot ignore the fact however too that the Cowboys defense got absolutely torched by Russell Wilson and the Giants. With a weak secondary and a pass rush that still looks to be weak without pass rusher Micah Parsons this Cowboys suffers the dilemma of potentially a solid offense with a weak defense. The 64 yarder by kicker Brandon Aubrey also has to be mentioned because of the implications for the victory and Dak Prescott still shined throwing for over 300 yards. This week’s test being the Bears, I could expect yet another win for the boys.

20. Patriots: The Patriots completed the narrow victory against their divisional rivals being the Miami Dolphins. I believe like I said last week that new head coach Mike Vrabel will be the turning point of this team. If they want any confidence they can look to quarterback Drake Maye. With a questionable defense still however, there is still much to be desired from this upcoming squad. Creating takeaways however has been positive for their defensive effort and I see them continuing to improve throughout the season.

21. Bengals: The Real possibility of the Bengals continuing to drop is here as quarterback Joe Burrow is confirmed to need surgery for his turf toe. This is a huge blow for the Cincinnati offense as he will be out for at least 3 months and might not be back til the month of December. With not having much resources due to the extensions of wide receivers Jamar Chase and Tee Higgins, I find it difficult for the Bengals to go out of their way to sign another contract for potentially a quarterback. The highlight this week for the Bengals however, was their close victory against the Jacksonville Jaguars improving to 2-0 on the year. The Bengals are the lowest 2-0 ranked team on this week’s version of the power rankings.

22. Texans: Houston dropped a game this past Monday during a close contest against a tough opponent being the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Houston defense came up big in some parts of the game with pass rusher Will Anderson Jr making a huge difference causing sacks. A late touchdown from veteran running back Nick Chubb was also a positive to see but the Texans left too much time on the clock for Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield, and late drive victories is exactly what he does. I personally see the Texans gaining their first victory in a tough divisional matchup against the Jaguars this week. CJ Stroud and company will improve or we will see a much worse start than we had imagined for the Texans.

23. Vikings: The worst thing imaginable happened for the Minnesota Vikings and that was the injury of starting quarterback JJ McCarthy suffered this past Sunday night. It’s an ankle injury that could sideline the quarterback for multiple weeks while backup quarterback Carson Wentz gets the nod. This offense can still be positive while containing the league’s best in wide receiver Justin Jefferson but their offense does also lose a running back in veteran Aaron Jones. The offseason addition of Jordan Mason from the 49ers, however, seems to be paying off already in the third week of the season. Similar to the 49ers I believe the success of this team rests on when McCarthy returns from injury.

24. Jaguars: It seems as if after one week new head coach Liam Coen and Trevor Lawrence are already having some disagreements. It was seen from a replay Trevor shrugging off coach Coen after an unsuccessful throw. Whether it be new growing pains of a new staff, Trevor Lawrence and the Jaguars still dropped a game against Bengals backup quarterback Jake Browning. While the contest was still close against the Bengals, I still believe their defense is still lacking and needs to improve if they want to compete. Travis Hunter also continues to have an increased payload and this week will be a great contest in the division rivals Houston Texans.

25. Giants: The Giants offense honestly exploded with quarterback Russell Wilson completing his passes for over 450 yards against the Cowboys. Wide receiver Malik Nabers also had 3 touchdowns on the day including a very clutch touchdown late in the game to help propel the Giants to a hopeful victory over the Cowboys. The story towards the end of the game however were the penalties that killed them and the late game interception from Russell Wilson. The continued question of when the right time for rookie quarterback Jaxosn Dart is still questioned but other rookies like runningback Cam Skatteboo have already shown promise with their early play.

26. Titans: Rookie quarterback Cam Ward has simply been sacked too much and that is not something you want to be thinking 2 weeks into the season. With running back Tony Pollard however still running this offense with key pieces like Calvin Ridley, it is still possible for this offense to propel his rookie year. With a tough opponent faced in week 2 being the Los Angeles Rams it is easy to give this offensive line some grace as they are one of the tougher defenses in the league. However, a test against one of the hottest offenses in the Colts this week, it will be interesting to see how the offense keeps up.

27. Jets: The New York Jets were simply not prepared to play against their divisional rivals this past Sunday. With a suffered 30-10 loss the Jets seem to be right back at square one. Breece Hall, Justin Fields and the offense seemed to not be able to get anything done and quarterback Justin Fields also left the game due to concussion protocol. It is confirmed that he has a concussion and backup quarterback Tyrod Taylor potentially takes the helm in week 3 against one of the league’s best against Tampa. Aaron Glenn I expect to have this defense accountable as well but how long Justin Fields is out can determine how competitive this team plays without him.

28. Bears: Chicago absolutely got blundered by the Detroit Lions and it was not even close. With a defense that never seems to take accountability they let up 50 plus points. After getting absolutely embarrassed last sunday it is still a trend to see quarterback Caleb Williams to have a solid statline for the game. If Ben Johnson wants to turn this season around for the Bears I expect this defense to look completely different from now on. If that is not the case however, the losing streak of the Bears could continue to look very ugly.

29. Dolphins: After losing a close contest to the Patriots after a late clutch touchdown from runningback Devon Achane, they still came up short. After a week one loss also to the Colts in disgusting fashion I still see this Dolphins team containing many question marks. However, after keeping it close with a more impressive team in the New England Patriots, I believe they proved that they were not indeed deserving of the worst ranked spot in the NFL. Jaylen Waddle is also returning from injury soon so we will see if the offense improves with moving the sticks.

30. Panthers: Panthers quarterback Bryce Young and company actually kept it interesting as previously mentioned before. Tet McMillan also continues to strive in this offense and it seems as if he was made for it. This offensive and defensive line however still has much to improve if they want to compete more as stated in last week’s rankings. A test with the new look division rival Atlanta Falcons coming off a victory will be a hard feat for the team to overcome this week.

31. Browns: The Browns simply did not look competent against the Baltimore Ravens and it seems as if the game was over as soon as it started. Opposing Quarterback Lamar Jackson exploded for 4 touchdowns as this defense was thought to be much better. With quarterback Joe Flacco still at the helm providing a veteran presence still allows them to move the ball with receivers like Jerry Jeudy but their team has not looked good these past few weeks. Maybe they can find a running identity with rookie running back Quinshon Judkins making his debut this week but I would still find it hard to find a victory on their schedule anytime soon.

32. Saints: The Saints by no means did not get embarrassed by the San Francisco 49ers this past Sunday and they kept the game close. Spencer Rattler was able to command the offense and extend plays for first downs throughout the game. It was not enough however to win the game and because of their super lacking defense and no sense of any real direction with this team I still have them ranked as the #32 ranked team in the power rankings.
