Will Soto live up to the expectations of such a large contract? Will he emerge as a better player than last season in the Bronx, or will he regress?
Soto’s first two months as a Met were very average, yet underwhelming for his standards, as he entered June with a rough .231 BA, 9 HR, 32 RBI, and a .770 OPS.
June was a much different story, as Soto was electric and displayed his MVP form in Queens, as he hit .322 with 11 HR, 20 RBI, 25 BB, and a 1.196 OPS, taking home NL Player of the Month honors.
Heading into July, Soto boosted his BA up to .258 and his OPS to around .900, as he continued to make a push for an All-Star Game appearance!
This will be the first edition of the “Juan Soto recap”, as I will recap his July stats by week with any notable moments, comments, or plays thrown in!
Week 1: July 1-7
Stats: 7/21 (.300 BA), 1 HR, 4 RBI, 4 BB, 6 K, BA increased to .263, OPS increased to .904 Summary: Soto took his June momentum and rode it into July, as he continued to get on base and take long at-bats against Milwaukee.
The second round of the Subway Series followed, as Soto exploded on the 4th of July, recording three hits against the rival Yankees, including a two-run homer off Marcus Stroman in the first inning.
In addition, Soto got on base twice in the second game, before going 0/4 with 2 strikeouts in the final game on the 7th.
Week 2: July 8-14
Stats: 5/21 (.238 BA), 2 HR, 5 RBI, 5 BB, 10 K, BA decreased to .262, OPS increased to .905
Summary: Soto had a great opening game against Baltimore, as he took part in the Mets’ 7-6 win by grounding an RBI single up the middle!
In addition, he got on base 3 more times that night, continuing his hot bat in the process.
Unfortunately, he cooled off in the next two games, going 0/5 with 3 BB, as the team lost the series.
His performance in the first two games against Kansas City was much better, as Soto increased his home run total to 23!
Similarly to the early part of the week, Soto had a rough finale, going 0/4 with 3 K to close out his first half of 2025!
Week 3: July 15-22
Stats: 2/16 (.125 BA), 1 HR, 3 RBI, 5 BB, 5 K, BA decreased to .256, OPS decreased to .893 Summary: With the All-Star festivities taking place from the 13th to the 18th, Soto got some time off after a first half that turned out to be electric.
This paved the way for Soto’s first AB against the Reds to be a 412’ bomb on the second pitch that he saw against Nick Lodolo, boosting his HR count to 24!
The superstar didn’t get a hit until the 7th inning against the Angels 3 days later, as he grounded a clutch two-run single to pave the way for another comeback win.
Despite Soto only gathering two hits in Week 3, he got on base seven times and stole two bases, showcasing how productive he can be in other facets of the game!

Week 4: July 23-29
Stats: 3/23 (.130 BA), 1 HR, 3 RBI, 2 BB, 7 K, BA decreased to .248, OPS decreased to .871 Summary: Soto’s roughest week in July came in Week 4, as he was very underwhelming and even struck out 3 times against the Padres on 7/28.
He had two solid games in San Francisco, but didn’t get a hit in his other four games, leading his stats to sink in several categories.
Furthermore, Soto fouled a ball off his left foot on the 29th and had to leave the game due to a contusion.
Fortunately, Carlos Mendoza plans on Soto rejoining the lineup on Friday, which is a great thing to hear!
Overall July Stats: 17/81 (.210 BA), 5 HR, 15 RBI, 16 BB, 28 K
