What has happened to sports, man?
We used to have Hall of Fame games.
Now we got former quarterbacks fighting podcasters while ex-NBA players are throwing spinning back fists like they just unlocked a new character on Mortal Kombat.
Somewhere David Stern and Vince Lombardi are looking down like:
“What the hell is a Brand Risk Promotions?”
Johnny Manziel stepped into the cage Saturday night looking less like an MMA fighter and more like a guy who aggressively reviews chicken wings on Facebook.
And somehow…
HE WON.
Johnny came out throwing kicks, getting takedowns, landing punches from mount — looking like a dude who watched three Conor McGregor highlights on YouTube and said:
“Yeah I can probably do that.”
Meanwhile Bob Menery was getting beat up so badly he looked like he accidentally walked into the wrong Uber.
The referee stopped the fight two minutes into the first round out of pure mercy.
And after the fight Johnny said:
“This was good enough for one time.”
YOU THINK JOHNNY?!
Brother looked exhausted walking TO the cage.
His stomach entered the octagon a solid seven seconds before the rest of him.
Johnny looked like somebody’s older cousin who says:
“I used to be nasty in high school”
while holding a Coors Light and breathing aggressively after climbing stairs.
This man had the physique of a guy who says:
“Cheat days don’t count on weekends.”
Meanwhile every day is the weekend.
I swear Johnny trained for this fight exclusively by wrestling for the remote control and shadowboxing mosquitoes at 2 AM.
But somehow he still looked better than half the celebrity fighters we’ve seen lately.
And what is this trend now with former athletes becoming fighters?
At this rate:
- retired kickers are gonna start Muay Thai careers
- former baseball players are gonna start bare-knuckle boxing
- and some washed-up golfer is gonna challenge a Twitch streamer to a Hell in a Cell match sponsored by Buffalo Wild Wings
Then we got Lance Stephenson fighting Michael Beasley in the co-main event.
BRO WHY?!
What happened to golf outings and podcasts?!
Why are retired athletes suddenly trying to recreate UFC 1?

Lance Stephenson probably blew into Beasley’s ear before throwing a right hook.
And honestly the craziest thing?
Johnny actually showed flashes.
For about 45 seconds I was sitting there like:
“Wait a minute… this dude might actually know what he’s doing.”
Then the camera zoomed in and he looked like a substitute gym teacher fighting for custody.
This whole event felt like somebody created it in franchise mode at 3 AM while drunk.
Former Browns quarterback?
Check.
Influencer getting beat up?
Check.
NBA players fighting?
Check.
Adin Ross promoting it?
Of course.
Because apparently we’re living in the internet’s group project now.
And listen…
credit to Johnny.
A lot of people talk tough.
He actually got in there and scrapped.
But let’s not get carried away.
We do NOT need “Johnny Cage” fighting again next month looking like he cut weight by skipping dessert ONE time.
Because if this keeps going, by next summer we’re getting:
“Ben Simmons vs Druski in a ladder match sponsored by DraftKings.”

And honestly?
The scary part is…
I’d probably watch it.

My name is Errol Marks and I’d like to tell you why I believe I can be a major asset to your station. I’m from a small town in Long Island, NY and from a very young age I’ve always had a love for sports talk radio. Growing up, I would listen religiously to shows like Mike and the Mad Dog, Mike and Mike, and Imus in the Morning and studied what made those shows so great. I’ve made it my goal to be as influential as the hosts I grew up listening to, and with my knowledge of all major sports, enthusiastic and fearless personality, and my preparation skills, I know I can get to that level. This is an art and a medium that I’m passionate about and one that I feel can never be replaced.
What makes my story so unique goes beyond my 10+ years of experience in sports media. In addition to over ten years of creating and hosting sports talk radio shows, I created the World Wide Sports Radio Network - one of the first ever digital sports radio networks - in 2012. Since the network began, we have had some of the best content in digital sports media. We have six quality shows on our network covering all sports and sports betting. I’m currently hosting New York’s Sports Loud Mouth, and you can find that show and the rest of our great shows at https://worldwidesportsradio.com/.
Our network’s content and listenership has grown significantly year to year and, in the past year, we’ve achieved 3.6 million minutes listened on our audio stream, over 29k followers on tik tok, 500k viewed on YouTube, 1.7 million downloads on Apple Podcasts, and 906,917 plays on Spotify. While we are enjoying a continued increase in growth, I feel that we can take this to a new level and a new audience with your help.
My goal since the day I started is to become the greatest and most recognizable sports radio show host in the country. I can guarantee that nobody in this industry currently has my passion, personality or ability to shape the future of sports broadcasting and entertainment like I do. If given the opportunity, I hope to further share my story and many talents with you and your station.
