Before we even get into why John Harbaugh choosing the New York Giants is one of the most laughable decisions by a respected coach in recent NFL history, we need to establish why this franchise keeps fooling people.
And no, it’s not because of championships.
It’s not because of roster strength.
It’s not because of stability.
It’s because of Giants fans who believe things that simply are not true.
Which brings me to our own executive producer at Joba & The Mouth, Aaron Fishman — a man so consistently wrong about the Giants that he has officially earned his nickname:
Aaron “No-Fishbowl Vision” Fishman
Blind as a bat 🦇 when it comes to Big Blue.
Fishman is the perfect case study in Giants fan delusion. Every year, he convinces himself — and tries to convince everyone else — that this is the year it all makes sense. That the roster is secretly good. That the defense is dominant. That the front office is smart. That the coach just needs time.
Fish doesn’t watch Giants games — he emotionally narrates them.
Missed tackles? “They’re aggressive.”
Bad drafts? “You don’t understand the process.”
Another losing season? “We’re closer than people think.”
And that mindset? That’s exactly how John Harbaugh talked himself into this mess.
Don’t worry, Fish — I still love you, my friend.
John Harbaugh had options.
Falcons.
Miami.
Functional organizations with actual talent and direction.
And he said, “Nah, give me the Giants.”
That’s not confidence — that’s walking into a burning building because someone told you the fire has character.
If Aaron Fishman told Harbaugh this roster was “almost there,” that explains everything.

Let’s talk about the real landmine here: Joe Schoen.
Schoen has been an unmitigated disaster:
- Paid Daniel Jones like he was a franchise QB
- Let Saquon Barkley walk just to watch him immediately remind everyone he’s still elite
- Drafted “potential” instead of production
- Built a roster that somehow lacks stars and depth
Hiring John Harbaugh doesn’t save Joe Schoen.
It just gives him a human shield.
Because when Schoen inevitably gets fired — and he will — Harbaugh becomes the next guy explaining why he needs more time with a roster he didn’t build and doesn’t believe in.
That’s how coaches get buried.
Since Tom Coughlin left, the Giants have turned into a football experiment gone wrong.
Head Coaches
- Ben McAdoo
- Pat Shurmur
- Joe Judge
- Brian Daboll
General Managers
- Jerry Reese
- Dave Gettleman
- Joe Schoen
That’s four coaches and three GMs in ten years, yet John Mara somehow escapes criticism like he’s under witness protection.
Meanwhile, Woody Johnson gets beaten up daily by the media, even though the Giants have been just as bad — if not worse.
Everyone loves mocking the Jets.
But here’s reality:
- More overall talent
- Better young skill players
- Real defensive depth
- Willingness to take swings
The rumor is the Jets reached out to Harbaugh and he had zero interest.
Why?
Because the Giants brand still tricks people — especially Giants fans — into confusing history with hope.
If Harbaugh chose the Giants because of Jaxson Dart, that’s even worse.

What did Dart actually prove this year?
- Some flashes
- Inconsistency
- No franchise certainty
Yet Giants fans talk about him like he’s already elite.
Let’s talk about the so-called strength of the team.
- Abdul Carter already missing practices
- Dexter Lawrence coming off injury, massive cap hit, trade rumors
That’s not dominance.
That’s uncertainty with a price tag.
Atlanta offered talent and flexibility.
Miami offered weapons and stability.
The Giants offer:
- A GM on borrowed time
- An overrated roster
- Ownership that never gets blamed
- A fan base living in denial
John Harbaugh didn’t choose the best job.
He chose the loudest brand with the emptiest cupboard.
John Harbaugh didn’t join a sleeping giant.
He joined a franchise powered by nostalgia, excuses, and selective blindness.
Welcome to New York, John.
