As the 2025 NFL season moves deeper into its second half, the MVP conversation is beginning to take shape—and no name belongs at the front of that discussion more than 17-year veteran Matthew Stafford. At 37 years old, Stafford is not just defying age expectations; he is playing some of the sharpest, most efficient, and most impactful football of his career. While several stars around the league have produced strong starts, Stafford’s blend of statistical dominance, clutch poise, and team value stands above the rest.

Currently in most sports betting books the top three leading MVP candidates are Stafford leading the way with a -215, Patriots QB Drake Maye with a +200 and Colts RB Jonathan Taylor with +1800. Looking at the performances from week to week over the last 10+ weeks we have seen Dominant performances from all three candidates. However after this past week’s lackluster performances by Maye and Taylor and the dominance continued by Stafford is what gives him the edge. Not having lost a game since a week 5 close overtime game against the 49ers the rams have won 6 games straight with Stafford in this time throwing for 30 TDs and only 2 Int. On top of that Stafford and the Rams have had to deal with injuries like WR1 Puka Nacua in that time frame while still continuing their dominance.

Right now the Rams sit at the top of the NFC just ahead of Super Bowl champion Eagles. It’s very much not a mistake that this team is doing as good as they are, especially with such a young and talented Defense to help close gaps in games as well as benefit the team in certain aspects of a game when needed. This team has also beaten highly regarded NFC contenders in the division rival Seahawks and Buccaneers just yesterday behind the back and the strength of no other than their leader Matthew Stafford. Therefore with the impressive resume so far this season and to have your team sitting at the top of the conference after 12 weeks of gridiron football, Stafford should definitely be the one taking home the MVP this season.

I love being a part of sports, I was always infatuated and relished watching the thrill players get from playing in big games. Always wanting to be a professional football player, it wasn’t until later on I realized the significance of sports media. As a sports broadcaster you being the individual who narrates the story behind the game, it allows viewers at home to share the same passion for the sport.
