Yesterday it was a huge day for the Joba And The Mouth Show as our hosts Errol Marks, Speedy and Joba Chamberlain had former NBA referee Tim Donaghy talking about a big topic right now in all of sports which is gambling and he talked about his book Personal Foul. Donaghy’s story is one for the ages when it came to him getting involved in a crazt way with Gambling. Donaghy is a well known NBA referee going back to the David Stern days when he was commissioner. Donaghy has tons of respect from all the players that were on the floor with him during games. Gambling has been a big issue in all of sports during the recent years especially now with athletes.

Who Is Tim Donaghy

Tim Donaghy is a former American NBA referee who was convicted for a gambling scandal in which he bet on games he officiated and provided inside information to gamblers. After working 13 seasons for the NBA, he was sentenced to 15 months in federal prison for his role in the conspiracy.

NBA referee: Donaghy worked for the NBA for 13 seasons, from 1994 to 2007, officiating 772 regular season games and 26 playoff games.

Gambling scandal: He was caught in a scandal for gambling on games he was working and was accused of making calls that could have affected the outcomes.

Criminal charges: Donaghy pleaded guilty to two felony charges of conspiracy and was sentenced to 15 months in federal prison.

Conviction: He admitted to using coded language to pass inside information to gamblers, though the amount of money he received was disputed by his co-conspirators. This was a crazy time for him, his family but never gave up and Donaghy learned from his mistakes for sure. Since all of this happened, Donaghy has been making appearances on different shows, podcast talking about his story and the book Personal Foul.

Personal Foul: A First-Person Account of the Scandal That Rocked the NBA is an autobiography written by former National Basketball Association (NBA) referee Tim Donaghy and published by Florida-based VTi-Group, Inc. in December 2009. Donaghy, who had resigned from the league as a central figure in the 2007 NBA betting scandal, describes his involvement in and inner workings of the scandal, as well as his gambling addiction.

What a treat this was as Donaghy explained everything in detail about what happened when he got involved with gambling, his book and journey. All the questions were unique, interesting and attention grabbing from Errol, Speedy and Joba. Errol was able to get some great answers from Tim Donaghy about the gambling scandal, also with Chauncey Billups, Damon Jones and Terry Rozier story that is going on right now. Donaghy did a fantastic job of being professional on the show yesterday, answering everything, taking the time for joining and shout-out to Speedy.

Errol asked Tim if he would do a celebrity boxing match with the late NBA Commissioner David Stern as a funny joke. Also Errol had Donaghy be a judge for Chauncey Billups, Damon Jones and Terry Rozier to give the punishment as a scenario which was cool. Fun fact is that Tim Donaghy and Damon Jones are really good friends going back to their days on the court.
