Let’s get one thing straight before we start: Chris Drury has one Stanley Cup on his résumé — but it wasn’t as a GM in New York. It was as a player with the Colorado Avalanche in 2001. He was a solid NHL guy, sure: he won the Calder Trophy as rookie of the year and scored 255 goals over 12 seasons, and even captained the Rangers for a few years as a player. But as an executive? Nada. Zero Cups. Zero Cup rings in the front office. He’s never had his name on the Cup as a GM or executive with an NHL team. NHL+1
So when James Dolan pulled up to The Carton Show to say Drury’s “been part of winning organizations and hates to lose,” you can almost see the WFAN studio audience squinting like they just heard the Zibanejad trade rumor again. 😆

Overall Rangers GM record under Drury:
📊 193–105–30 in regular-season games over four full seasons — very good on paper. NHL
🎯 3 playoff appearances in 4 seasons — not bad. NHL
🏅 One Presidents’ Trophy (best regular season) in 2023–24. NHL
But while that looks nice in a spreadsheet, in reality Rangers fans will tell you it feels like a game of roulette where all the chips are on “Get Better Soon.” 😅
Drury has gone through multiple head coaches in five years, which might qualify as the NHL’s most aggressive interpretive dance of bench bosses:

So that’s four coaches in five seasons. Third year with one guy and they still fire him? That’s more turnover than a bakery during playoff season! 😂
Yes! Drury got Mike Sullivan, who won two Stanley Cups with the Pittsburgh Penguins (2016 & 2017), as head coach. So you can say he chased championship experience — maybe too hard if you consider Sullivan was out of a job when he arrived. But hey, he has rings! Reuters

Here’s the honest reality:
- The Rangers haven’t won the Stanley Cup since 1994. NHL Records
- Drury has no Cup wins as a GM.
- He has posted some very good regular-season records.
- He’s brought in championship-winning coaching pedigree (Sullivan) — and yet results are mixed.
Fans will say “Where’s the trophy?” — and they have a point.
But the front office and Dolan dug in and extended Drury’s deal in April 2025 because they believe in his long-range plan and culture building. NHL
Look, Dolan finally calls into WFAN and tries to sell Drury like a luxury car with 75,000 miles and a weird smell in the backseat — and it’s just not sticking.
Drury’s been part of winning organizations … if by “winning organizations” you mean teams that almost win sometimes but then get cold-cocked at home ice like some bad karaoke, fine. 😆
If you’re asking when is it enough? … well, hold onto your MSG hot dog, because hockey GMs don’t get fired like last week’s leftovers unless you actually spend more seasons in the basement than the penthouse.
And right now? The Rangers have been closer to the Cup final dance under Drury than at any point since the Clinton administration — and that counts for something, even if it’s just something to complain about with your buddies at the bar.🍻

Growing up, I would listen religiously to shows like Mike and the Mad Dog, Mike and Mike, and Imus in the Morning and studied what made those shows so great. I’ve made it my goal to be as influential as the hosts I grew up listening to, and with my knowledge of all major sports, enthusiastic and fearless personality, and my preparation skills, I know I can get to that level. This is an art and a medium that I’m passionate about and one that I feel can never be replaced.
What makes my story so unique goes beyond my 10+ years of experience in sports media. In addition to over ten years of creating and hosting sports talk radio shows, I created the World Wide Sports Radio Network - one of the first ever digital sports radio networks - in 2012. Since the network began, we have had some of the best content in digital sports media. We have six quality shows on our network covering all sports and sports betting. Our network’s content and listenership has grown significantly year to year and, in the past year, we’ve achieved 3.6 million minutes listened on our audio stream, over 29k followers on tik tok, 500k viewed on YouTube, 1.7 million downloads on Apple Podcasts, and 906,917 plays on Spotify. While we are enjoying a continued increase in growth, I feel that we can take this to a new level and a new audience with your help.
My goal since the day I started is to become the greatest and most recognizable sports radio show host in the country. I can guarantee that nobody in this industry currently has my passion, personality or ability to shape the future of sports broadcasting and entertainment like I do.
