(Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey)
From challenging in the Eastern Conference finals to being on the brink of elimination in the first round of the playoffs to the New York Knicks, the Philadelphia 76ers need massive change if they want to get back to being one of the better teams in the East.

Injuries have played a part in the demise so far with Joel Embiid having to miss two months after surgery, which saw them fall from number three to seven in the East, one man shouldn’t be the reason. Joel might be a top-three player in the NBA currently, and it does signify his importance, but the role players need to know of their role when he is not there.

Players like Tobias Harris, Cam Payne, and Kyle Lowry need to elevate their game in the absence of Embiid. They are down 3-2 against the Knicks and the reason for the two wins is the fight and guts of Tyrese Maxey.

Tyrese Maxey should be getting a whole lot of plaudits for his performances in this series. He has been an unsung hero at times when Joel is unavailable and that’s what you want to see, a player stepping up in the absence of the star of the team.

Albeit Philly only has those two who can carry them to a certain point, there is a certain ball handler that Philadelphia could go for and make themselves genuine title contenders; that man is Kyrie Irving.

Now it didn’t work in Boston we all know that, and at the start in Dallas they couldn’t buy a win together, but recently they have been outrageous together. If only they could have completed the biggest comeback in the playoffs from 31 points down against the LA Clippers.

Pairing Embiid with Irving and having Maxey as backup, that lineup would genuinely be scary. The power of Embiid and the shooting prowess of all three is a sight 6ers fans would adore for years to come.

Well, I am 18 years old currently undergoing my Bachelors of Science in Media and communications. I'm currently in my first semester and I would like to be a sports analyst in the future. I am also from Jamaica. I would like to work at one of the biggest sports companies in the world (ESPN/SKY/BT) but everyone needs a start and I would love it if you were to give me that start.
