Is WWE giving up on one of their biggest stars?

In the build up to this year’s WrestleMania one of the marquees matches on the SmackDown Live side of the card was going to be Roman Reigns vs. Goldberg for the WWE Universal Championship. When night one of the WrestleMania two-night spectacular came, we did not get Reigns vs. Goldberg, but Braun Strowman vs. Goldberg is the match that happened. The match of Strowman vs. Goldberg came as a surprise to most as the WWE did not really announce the change. In fact, the final decision to change the match did not come until the night before WrestleMania.

In the Coronavirus pandemic that we currently live in the WWE gave their wrestles the option to not compete if they feel that health and safety is at risk. Roman Reigns is one such wrestler whom choose not to compete at WrestleMania. Reigns has had two battles with cancer, one in 2011 and most recently in late 2017- early 2018. For this reason, Reigns pulled out of his championship bout at the showcase of the immortals. With Roman’s past medical history, he felt that his health and safety was more important than winning a title. That’s a seemingly reasonable decision to make, especially when the company gave him the option. Apparently Reigns decision to sit out of Mania did not sit well with the McMahon in charge. As the “Big Dog” has not been seen of or even mentioned on WWE TV since the SmackDown before WrestleMania. This has been reported as an executive decision from Vince McMahon. This decision comes as WWE has made some rash decisions such as continue to produce live TV and made mass staffing cuts, detailed pervious in this article https://worldwidesportsradio.com/what-the-hell-is-wrong-with-wwe/.

It turning out the Reigns’ decision to protect his personal health has created some heat for him backstage. It seems that McMahon is mad at Reigns as pulling out of the universal championship match as the SmackDown main event scene for the next few months has to be rewritten. Reigns was supposed to regain the title he never lost and be the SmackDown headliner for the next few months. Now that Reigns has been effectively written off TV for now the question is what does the future hold for Roman Reigns. Chances is are that any heat between Reigns and backstage officials will go away and he’ll be back on tv in no time. Though this heat could lead to a bigger falling out between the two parties that could end with Reigns parting ways with the wrestling promotion.
If it comes to Reigns leaving the WWE there are many paths Reigns could take. He could continue to wrestle in other promotions, such as major competitor AEW or smaller promotions like TNA, ROH, or New Japan. Or there is a more likely path once Reigns leave WWE, joining his cousin “The Rock” in Hollywood. Reigns has publicly expressed his interest in acting after wrestling. Reigns has even started his acting career by playing a small role in the recent blockbuster Hobbs and Shaw. If Reigns leaves for the Hollywood route it is likely to have the same effect that “The Rock” and John Cena had when they left at their respected times. Roman Reigns debut on main roster WWE in 2010 as part of the Shield and for the last five years has been a main event singles star. For these last five years of main event status, Reigns has been a face of the company and a locker-room leader for which ever brand he has been on weather it has been RAW or SmackDown. If Reigns leaves WWE not only will the company be losing a top talent and box office draw, but also a head of the locker room. There would be a huge hit in morale of the locker room and cause a further disconnect between the talent and management. These events could lead to a massive flood of talent to loss all faith in the WWE and leave the company. There is much to look forward to in the upcoming month as WWE seems to continue to self-destructs admits the global health crisis.
Chris Benoit a WWE hall of famer?

Chris Benoit a WWE hall of famer?

For fans of a certain age, they remember the all-time classic matches Chris Benoit put on in Extreme Championship Wrestling, World Championship Wrestling, and World Wrestling Federation/Entertainment. But 13 years after the darkest day in pro wrestling history the question that has persisted is should, Chris Benoit be in the Hall of fame?
The simple answer is no, He was one of the best performers of his day and he deserves all the press and praise he gets. But, the key word in that scenario is “performer” the man was a great “performer” but in the man’s social life especially at the end of it he did have some problems. Leading to the double murder suicide. That is why the answer will always be no, Chris Benoits personal demons will always overshadow his in-ring accomplishment’s.
Many people have made a case for him to be inducted on the marrieds of his performance in the ring and what he did should not matter for his performances as an entertainer. That argument is complicated, this conversation came up again after Vice renewed their wrestling documentary series Dark Side of the Ring earlier this year. The first two episodes of season two shinned new light to the events that happened back in 2007. With testimony from the people who were closest to him including his son from his first marriage and his sister in law who accounted for the life of Benoit and his wife Nancy before their deaths showed how his life changed leading to the tragedy.
Many fans have compared it to other sports hall of fame controversies such as baseball, where players such as Pete Rose and Alex Rodriquez are not being allowed in their respective hall of fame for tampering their careers and the sport. But fans need to understand the repercussions of putting Chris Benoit or his wife Nancy in the hall of fame. It is Understandable why they both should be in the hall of fame.
Chris was one of the best technical wrestlers of his time from his time in Japan where he had amazing matches with his good friend Eddie Guerrero. To his World title-winning match in the WWE at WrestleMania 20. His wife Nancy was one of the best pro Wrestling personalities of her time, she kept up her role as a valet no matter who she was working with she put them over with the fans every single time. She was a great character and personality back in a time where that was the most important thing she could do.
But at the end of the day as Pro wrestling announcer Jim Ross said in the Vice Documentary “It would be a distraction.” He is 100% correct, fans have to understand even though the man was one of the best to ever lace up a pair of boots and his wife was one of the best mangers of her time.
With all the news coverage forms the double murder-suicide and the magnitude of the event sadly will always overshadow everything the man and his wife have done in the wrestling world. It is a shame but if someone saw his face in the hall of fame next to some of the all-time greats of pro wrestling, all you can think about is the tragic event that took place back in 2007.
Is April the Greatest Month for Sports?

Is April the Greatest Month for Sports?

By Chris Klimaszewski

Here’s why April is the greatest month in sports. I know there is no NFL in the month of April, but look at all the other sports going on. First off, right from the start of April, it’s Opening Day for baseball. Second, the first Sunday in April, the Road to Wrestlemania has finally. Then the exact next day after Wresltemania, you have the March Madness finals. After that, the following weekend will be The Masters. Then, while all that’s going on, you’ll have the NBA and NHL going on throughout April. Finally, at the end of the month, you’ll have your taste of the NFL season with the NFL Draft. Plus, how could I forget, all the UFC fights that’ll happen.

Think about it. This is a month we’ll see Mike Trout, Rory McIlroy, Seth Rollins, Zion Williamson, Sidney Crosbey, and Roger Goodell getting boo’d, in action all in this one month. You literally couldn’t ask for anything better. I don’t know about you, but I can’t wait for April.
