Last night at UFC 326, the BMF title fight between Max Holloway and Charles Oliveira turned into something nobody expected.
Not a war.
Not a striking clinic.
Nope.
What fans actually got was 25 minutes of Brazilian jiu-jitsu domination, starring Charles Oliveira and a very unwilling grappling partner named Max Holloway.
And by the end of the night the judges all agreed on one thing:
50-45 Oliveira.
Which in MMA scoring basically translates to:
“Yeah… that guy got beat up pretty good.”
Before this rematch, Holloway and Oliveira first met back in 2015.
That fight ended early when Oliveira suffered a neck injury and couldn’t continue. Officially it went down as a TKO win for Holloway.
But it always felt unfinished.
It was like watching the first 10 minutes of a movie and then the screen suddenly going black.
Fast forward to UFC 326, and the sequel finally dropped.
Except this time Oliveira showed up like a man who had been waiting ten years for revenge.

Round 1: Uh Oh… This Might Be Bad
The fight started exactly how everyone expected.
Holloway bouncing.
Jabbing.
Throwing volume.
For about… 45 seconds.
Then Oliveira shoots a takedown and suddenly the fight turns into grappling class with Professor Oliveira.
Max is on the mat thinking he’s about to scramble up.
Oliveira is thinking:
“Cool… I live here now.”
Round 2: The Human Backpack Era Begins
This was the round where things got real.
Oliveira dragged the fight back down and climbed onto Holloway’s back like he just bought a first-class seat on the Holloway Express.
Body triangle locked.
Now if you’re not a hardcore MMA fan, let me explain a body triangle.
It’s basically when someone wraps their legs around you in a way that says:
“You are not going anywhere unless the referee teleports you.”
Oliveira threw elbows, hunted chokes, and controlled the round like a man who had the cheat codes to the fight.

By now the fight looked less like a main event and more like a National Geographic special.
Narrator voice:
“Here we see the Brazilian grappler controlling his prey…”
Mount.
Half guard.
Back control.
Oliveira was doing everything except asking Holloway if he wanted to sign up for jiu-jitsu classes after the fight.
At one point Oliveira mounted him and started dropping elbows like he was trying to fix a dent in the Octagon canvas.
And yes… even his chin got involved in the chaos while grinding on top.
That’s when you know a guy is dominating.
When his face is participating in the offense.
Round 5: Holloway’s Heart
One thing you can never question about Max Holloway is his toughness.
The man survived:
• choke attempts
• elbows
• back control
• five rounds of grappling hell
But the fight was already decided.
Oliveira had completely neutralized Holloway’s greatest weapon: his striking volume.
Because you can’t throw punches when a Brazilian submission wizard is sitting on your chest like he owns the property.
Watching this fight felt like I somehow snuck into the cage and was yelling advice from three feet away.
Halfway through the fight I’m screaming at my TV:
“MAX… STAND UP!”
But every time Holloway tried to stand…
Oliveira appeared behind him again like a horror movie villain.
You know those scenes where the victim turns around and the killer is suddenly right there?
Yeah.
That was Oliveira all night.
For Charles Oliveira, this was massive.
The former lightweight champion reminded everyone that he’s still one of the most dangerous fighters on earth.
And now he walks away with the BMF belt and a ton of momentum toward another title run.
For Max Holloway, the toughness was incredible… but this just wasn’t his night.
Sometimes the other guy shows up with a grappling PhD and bad intentions.
My Top 10 Thoughts Of The Fight
- Charles Oliveira didn’t fight Max Holloway… he adopted him and carried him around for 25 minutes.
- At one point I thought Holloway was about to ask Oliveira to split the Uber fare since he rode his back all night.
- Oliveira’s body triangle was tighter than the UFC’s pay-per-view prices.
- Max Holloway landed fewer strikes than I did yelling at my TV.
- That wasn’t a fight… that was a Brazilian jiu-jitsu infomercial.
- Oliveira climbed on Holloway’s back so many times I thought he was trying to unlock a PlayStation trophy.
- Max kept trying to stand up like a guy getting off the couch after Thanksgiving dinner.
- If backpacks were ranked in the UFC… Holloway would’ve just fought for the title.
- Oliveira’s control time was longer than most Marvel movies.
- By round four I wasn’t watching a fight anymore… I was watching Max Holloway file for squatters’ rights inside Oliveira’s guard.

My name is Errol Marks and I’d like to tell you why I believe I can be a major asset to your station. I’m from a small town in Long Island, NY and from a very young age I’ve always had a love for sports talk radio. Growing up, I would listen religiously to shows like Mike and the Mad Dog, Mike and Mike, and Imus in the Morning and studied what made those shows so great. I’ve made it my goal to be as influential as the hosts I grew up listening to, and with my knowledge of all major sports, enthusiastic and fearless personality, and my preparation skills, I know I can get to that level. This is an art and a medium that I’m passionate about and one that I feel can never be replaced.
What makes my story so unique goes beyond my 10+ years of experience in sports media. In addition to over ten years of creating and hosting sports talk radio shows, I created the World Wide Sports Radio Network - one of the first ever digital sports radio networks - in 2012. Since the network began, we have had some of the best content in digital sports media. We have six quality shows on our network covering all sports and sports betting. I’m currently hosting New York’s Sports Loud Mouth, and you can find that show and the rest of our great shows at https://worldwidesportsradio.com/.
Our network’s content and listenership has grown significantly year to year and, in the past year, we’ve achieved 3.6 million minutes listened on our audio stream, over 29k followers on tik tok, 500k viewed on YouTube, 1.7 million downloads on Apple Podcasts, and 906,917 plays on Spotify. While we are enjoying a continued increase in growth, I feel that we can take this to a new level and a new audience with your help.
My goal since the day I started is to become the greatest and most recognizable sports radio show host in the country. I can guarantee that nobody in this industry currently has my passion, personality or ability to shape the future of sports broadcasting and entertainment like I do. If given the opportunity, I hope to further share my story and many talents with you and your station.
