If there’s one thing sports fans love more than a buzzer-beater, it’s drama. And nobody delivers drama quite like Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese.
The Atlanta Dream handed the Indiana Fever another loss, beating them 113-96, and Angel Reese showed up with 18 points and eight rebounds. Give her credit—she balled out.
But let’s not pretend the internet wasn’t waiting for the real main event.
Not the game.
Not the score.
Not Rhyne Howard dropping 24 points.
Nope.
Everybody had their popcorn ready for another episode of “As the WNBA Turns: Caitlin vs. Angel.”
Early in the game, Clark got fouled driving to the basket, Reese had a few words, Clark waved her off, and social media immediately acted like they were watching a heavyweight title fight.
Some fans think Reese can’t stand that Clark has become the face of the league. Others think the media keeps forcing this rivalry into every conversation.
Here’s my take:
Who cares?
Rivalries are good for sports.

Magic and Bird needed each other.
Brady needed Manning.
The Yankees needed the Red Sox.
And now the WNBA has Clark and Reese trading buckets, rebounds, side-eyes, and enough viral moments to break the internet every other week.
The truth is, Caitlin Clark being the league’s biggest star doesn’t take anything away from Angel Reese.
And Angel Reese embracing the villain role doesn’t take anything away from Caitlin Clark.
But let’s be honest—if you’re waving somebody off during a game, you know exactly what you’re doing.
That’s sports.
That’s competition.
That’s why people tune in.
As for the Fever, they’ve got bigger problems than trash talk.

Clark dropped 26 points, but Indiana continues to struggle with turnovers and transition defense. Clark owned it after the game, saying the team needs to take better care of the basketball.
Translation?
“You can’t win games if you’re handing out turnovers like free samples at Costco.”
The Fever need to tighten things up fast because the rest of the league isn’t slowing down.
Meanwhile, the Dream are rolling, Reese is thriving, and WNBA fans are getting exactly what they’ve wanted: stars who aren’t afraid to compete.
So can we stop pretending somebody has to be the hero and somebody has to be the villain?
Actually, never mind.
Sports are way more fun this way.
Just know this: every time Clark and Reese step on the same court, ratings go up, social media explodes, and somewhere in America, somebody is already typing an angry comment before the opening tip.
And honestly?
That’s how you know you’ve got a real rivalry.

My name is Errol Marks and I’d like to tell you why I believe I can be a major asset to your station. I’m from a small town in Long Island, NY and from a very young age I’ve always had a love for sports talk radio. Growing up, I would listen religiously to shows like Mike and the Mad Dog, Mike and Mike, and Imus in the Morning and studied what made those shows so great. I’ve made it my goal to be as influential as the hosts I grew up listening to, and with my knowledge of all major sports, enthusiastic and fearless personality, and my preparation skills, I know I can get to that level. This is an art and a medium that I’m passionate about and one that I feel can never be replaced.
What makes my story so unique goes beyond my 10+ years of experience in sports media. In addition to over ten years of creating and hosting sports talk radio shows, I created the World Wide Sports Radio Network - one of the first ever digital sports radio networks - in 2012. Since the network began, we have had some of the best content in digital sports media. We have six quality shows on our network covering all sports and sports betting. I’m currently hosting New York’s Sports Loud Mouth, and you can find that show and the rest of our great shows at https://worldwidesportsradio.com/.
Our network’s content and listenership has grown significantly year to year and, in the past year, we’ve achieved 3.6 million minutes listened on our audio stream, over 29k followers on tik tok, 500k viewed on YouTube, 1.7 million downloads on Apple Podcasts, and 906,917 plays on Spotify. While we are enjoying a continued increase in growth, I feel that we can take this to a new level and a new audience with your help.
My goal since the day I started is to become the greatest and most recognizable sports radio show host in the country. I can guarantee that nobody in this industry currently has my passion, personality or ability to shape the future of sports broadcasting and entertainment like I do. If given the opportunity, I hope to further share my story and many talents with you and your station.
