If there were a Hall of Fame for complaining, Angel Reese would already have a statue outside the building.
This time, Reese grabbed the microphone after the Atlanta Dream’s loss to the Washington Mystics—not to talk about the game—but to let the world know she’s furious that nobody from the Dream was voted a WNBA All-Star starter.
Apparently, the All-Star voting committee has now been accused of committing basketball crimes.
Now, before everybody jumps down my throat, let me be clear—I actually agree with Angel on one thing.
Rhyne Howard and Allisha Gray have been fantastic this season. They’ve carried Atlanta offensively, defended at a high level, and they’re a huge reason why the Dream have been one of the biggest surprises in the WNBA. There’s a legitimate case that one, if not both, deserved to be All-Star starters.
But here’s where The Mouth starts laughing.
Every time there’s an All-Star vote, MVP discussion, sneaker deal, TV ratings debate, or somebody drops a basketball in the WNBA… somehow Caitlin Clark ends up becoming the center of the conversation.
Clark didn’t create the voting system.
Clark didn’t count the ballots.
Clark didn’t hack the computers.
She just happens to be the biggest star in women’s basketball.
That’s called popularity—not a conspiracy.
The All-Star starters are determined by fans, the media, and the players. Fans make up 50 percent of the vote. If your fan base doesn’t show up like they’re trying to score front-row tickets to Beyoncé, you’re probably not getting three starters.
Ironically, Reese admitted Atlanta fans didn’t rally behind the Dream enough.
Well… there’s your answer.
Don’t blame the restaurant because nobody ordered the special.
Then Reese said, “I expect to be disrespected.”
Disrespected?
Angel, you’re a two-time All-Star, one of the faces of the WNBA, and one of the league’s biggest marketing stars.
That’s not disrespect.
That’s losing a popularity contest.
And right now, Caitlin Clark is the undisputed heavyweight champion of fan voting.
She’s the blockbuster movie.
Everyone else is hoping for a good opening weekend.
Again, none of this is a shot at Rhyne Howard or Allisha Gray. They absolutely deserve recognition and will likely still be All-Stars when the reserves are announced.
But acting like this is some historic basketball robbery?
Come on.
This isn’t a Netflix true-crime documentary.
It’s an All-Star Game.
At this point, the quickest way to make national headlines in the WNBA isn’t scoring 35 points…
It’s saying something that eventually brings Caitlin Clark into the conversation.
Clark should honestly start charging rent because she seems to live in everyone’s head for free.
Only in sports can your team lose a game…
…and somehow Caitlin Clark still ends up winning the news cycle.

What makes my story so unique goes beyond my 10+ years of experience in sports media. In addition to over ten years of creating and hosting sports talk radio shows, I created the World Wide Sports Radio Network - one of the first ever digital sports radio networks - in 2012. Since the network began, we have had some of the best content in digital sports media. We have six quality shows on our network covering all sports and sports betting.
