Ladies and gentlemen… THE CAPTAIN IS BACK!
Aaron Judge is officially back with the New York Yankees, and somewhere in the Bronx, Yankees fans are walking around like Christmas morning just showed up in September.
You know what this means?
The Yankees have finally gotten back the one guy who can walk into the batter’s box and make an opposing pitcher suddenly question every career decision he’s ever made.
Judge is back after missing more than three months with that fractured rib, and let me tell you something: the Yankees have been surviving without him.
Surviving.
Not exactly thriving.
The Yankees went 45-39 while Judge was out, which is actually pretty impressive considering their offense looked at times like somebody unplugged the scoreboard.
Since Judge went on the injured list, the Yankees ranked 26th in baseball in runs scored.
TWENTY-SIXTH!
That’s not an offense.
That’s a cry for help.
The Yankees have been hitting home runs, sure. But apparently they’ve adopted the philosophy of:
“Why score a bunch of runs when we can just make every home run feel like a family reunion?”
And now Judge is coming back.
The man was hitting .248 with a .375 on-base percentage, a .533 slugging percentage, 17 home runs and 38 RBIs in just 59 games before the injury.
And that was Judge basically saying, “Hold my beer, I’m not even warmed up yet.”
Now he gets to come back against Colorado, and his first at-bat is scheduled to come against Gabriel Hughes, who is 0-6 with a 6.19 ERA.
I’m not saying Major League Baseball scheduled Judge’s return like a WWE comeback…
…but whoever made that pitching assignment deserves a Christmas card.
“Welcome back, Aaron! Here’s a guy with an ERA over six. Enjoy yourself.”
Judge didn’t even need a rehab assignment. He took live batting practice Monday, the Yankees liked what they saw, and boom — THE CAPTAIN IS BACK.
And Yankees fans should be excited.
Because this lineup desperately needed him.

Ben Rice has had a breakout season. Spencer Jones has been impressive. Luis Garcia Jr. has provided some serious pop since coming over at the trade deadline.
But let’s be honest:
There’s only one Aaron Judge.
When Judge walks to the plate, the entire stadium changes.
The opposing pitcher changes.
The defensive alignment changes.
The television cameras change.
And somewhere, a poor baseball is already filling out its last will and testament.
But here’s the big question:
Does Aaron Judge coming back make the Yankees the team to beat in the American League?
I say…
HELL YES.
And I’m not saying that because I’m a Yankees fan.
I’m saying it because you have to look at the entire roster.
The Yankees have the pitching.

Cam Schlittler has been ridiculous.
Max Fried is Max Fried.
Gerrit Cole is Gerrit Cole.
Carlos Rodón gives them another arm.
And the bullpen?
MLB-best 3.05 ERA.
That’s nasty.
That’s the kind of pitching where you can actually afford to have an offense disappear for six innings while everybody waits for Judge to hit one into the upper deck.
Now you put Judge back into that lineup and suddenly everybody else gets more dangerous.
You can’t pitch around Judge if the guys behind him are producing.
You can’t just say, “We’ll walk Judge.”
Because eventually somebody is going to make you pay.
And that’s what the Yankees have been missing.
FEAR.
Aaron Judge creates fear.
He doesn’t even have to swing the bat.
He can stand in the batter’s box and make a pitcher look like he’s trying to solve a math problem he wasn’t prepared for.
Now, before everybody starts planning the World Series parade down Broadway — CALM DOWN!
It’s September.
We have seen the Yankees do some absolutely beautiful things during the regular season and then enter October like somebody stole their bats at the airport.
Judge’s postseason numbers haven’t matched his regular-season production, so I’m not ready to hand him the World Series MVP trophy in September.
But I will say this:
The Yankees are a completely different baseball team with Aaron Judge in the lineup.
And if this pitching staff continues to perform the way it has, and Judge gets hot at the right time, this Yankees team could become a nightmare in October.
The Rays are still four games ahead of them in the AL East.
So the Yankees have work to do.
But now?
The captain is back.
The lineup has its heartbeat again.
And every pitcher in the American League just got a very uncomfortable reminder:
Aaron Judge is no longer watching from the dugout.
He’s coming to the plate.
And if I’m the Yankees…
I’m telling Judge the same thing everybody tells the guy who just got back from vacation:
“Welcome back. We saved your seat.”
Except in Judge’s case…
the seat is in the middle of the Yankees lineup, and there are about 40,000 people waiting for him to send a baseball into orbit.

My name is Errol Marks and I’d like to tell you why I believe I can be a major asset to your station. I’m from a small town in Long Island, NY and from a very young age I’ve always had a love for sports talk radio. Growing up, I would listen religiously to shows like Mike and the Mad Dog, Mike and Mike, and Imus in the Morning and studied what made those shows so great. I’ve made it my goal to be as influential as the hosts I grew up listening to, and with my knowledge of all major sports, enthusiastic and fearless personality, and my preparation skills, I know I can get to that level. This is an art and a medium that I’m passionate about and one that I feel can never be replaced.
What makes my story so unique goes beyond my 10+ years of experience in sports media. In addition to over ten years of creating and hosting sports talk radio shows, I created the World Wide Sports Radio Network - one of the first ever digital sports radio networks - in 2012. Since the network began, we have had some of the best content in digital sports media. We have six quality shows on our network covering all sports and sports betting. I’m currently hosting New York’s Sports Loud Mouth, and you can find that show and the rest of our great shows at https://worldwidesportsradio.com/.
Our network’s content and listenership has grown significantly year to year and, in the past year, we’ve achieved 3.6 million minutes listened on our audio stream, over 29k followers on tik tok, 500k viewed on YouTube, 1.7 million downloads on Apple Podcasts, and 906,917 plays on Spotify. While we are enjoying a continued increase in growth, I feel that we can take this to a new level and a new audience with your help.
My goal since the day I started is to become the greatest and most recognizable sports radio show host in the country. I can guarantee that nobody in this industry currently has my passion, personality or ability to shape the future of sports broadcasting and entertainment like I do. If given the opportunity, I hope to further share my story and many talents with you and your station.
